  • When you have the egg that you get after you get the 1st badge is in your party the egg recieves xp when you make other pokemon faint. The odd part is I had Pidgey at the lead of my party during this and it was not gaining xp after fainting other pokemon while my other two pokemon were recieving xp alongside the egg.

This is in the newest build you released on Christmas Eve.

Thanks for the bug report. The egg gaining experience is a bug I forgot to put in the bug list and it is related to the Exp. Share. Even if the egg gets exp and learns moves once hatches it will hatch at lv 1 and with correct moves.

The bug with the Pokemon not gaining is very weird. I have never experienced something like this. I will double check anyway. I know Exp. Share is kinda buggy but I wouldn't like to remove it. I will look for a way to fix it.

  • Well I do like to see it stay as I don't want to have to do major grinding just to keep up to par with the trainers. Anyhow I got my Pidgey caught back up with my party members as it was only like 2 levels behind and I'm also happy to say that Falkner is improved over the beta 1 days.

  • Pokémon GS Chronicles - [Build 2.7.3 Released 05/12/2024]

    Beta 2.1 Released

This isn't a regular update. I'm showing now some interesting new features that I've been working on. Most of these changes are more noticeable for new games. This will be the last update before finishing Johto's region storyline. Here are some of them:
    • New cutscene for choosing your starter Pokemon
    • Picture shown when getting an item. Key items and TMs are shown in doubled size in the middle of the screen.
    • Animation shown when getting a badge
    • Applied filters for Day and Night for a better transition between hours.
    • Fixed bug with arrows for warps during night that reverted the night filters
    • Experience gain formula reverted to original one due to new system gives too much exp points
    • A few more songs changed to a higher quality ones.

Now some changes were done to balance the game's difficulty. Here are them:
    • TM40 changed from Acrobatics to Pluck due to previous move was so OP for the early game.
    • Falkner's signature Pokemon changed to Murkrow because some people had troubles with Skarmory in early game.
    • Magikarp can no longer be obtained with Old Rod/Super Rod because level them up with Exp. Share is not a challenge and Gyarados' moveset with PSS is too OP.
    • It is not mandatory to defeat trainers from Ecruteak's gym. However by defeating them the invisible floor will be illuminated.

You can go to the main post to download the new release (Remember to save inside any PC and then update).

    Important Poll added

Well. One of the things my hack aimed over other G/S/C remakes is not only to be a reboot, I also wanted to make a reboot that offers the closest experience to latest generation games. Some mechanics from newer games is present. However with the release of Skeli's Complete Fire Red upgrade I tried to get it to my hack to showcase an improved experience. However it's been almost two months trying it with no luck.

For this reason today I opened a poll to decide the future of the project. I wan to take advantage of amazing engine, but I need to sacrifice some thing to make it work. Do you guys agree for the project to be restarted in a new rom but taking advantage of the Complete Fire Red Upgrade?

The positive things of staring the project in a new ROM is:

    - Probably saves will not be compatible due to memory discrepancies between my hack and Skeli's engine
    - Most likely all real-hardware crashes will no longer occur.
    - A working Mega Evolution with Z moves (Or Dynamax if you like them)
    - An overall better experience
    - I will confidently expand the Pokedex to 494 (Up to 4th Gen + Sylveon, I was replacing some Hoenn Pokemon that I considered not priority in my Pokedex)

The only negative things is that Beta 2.5 (Completion of Johto Storyline) will be delayed for like 4-5 months while I move all there resources to a new ROM and some fancy stuff like Spherical Ice's Unown Report will not work (Not sure if anyone used it ever, though)

Is up to you guys if you want me to move all my work to a new base. Vote using the poll or comment your thoughts about it.

P.S. For now I have no more original ideas for next monthly Event Pokemon. So you can keep claiming the Ledyba form main post.

  • I know people are overwhelmingly saying yes in the poll, but I'm going to be honest atleast release beta 2.5 before doing this. Then beta 3 onwards can be on the new rom.

I don't like waiting on things personally, but given how close you are to finishing the johto storlyline based on what pics you have posted I don't get why you should do the porting over right now and delay the 2.5 release, because lets be honest you might say 4-5 extra months for the wait, but it could be even longer because I'm sure you have a life.

I am patient enough for kanto, but not johto.

Now I'm stuck at the radio tower because she keeps telling me the answer I picked is incorrect. "What has a head a tail and no body" when I chose "A coin" she tells me I'm incorrect, now I can't seem to do Whitney gym

Pokémon GS Chronicles - [Build 2.7.3 Released 05/12/2024]

    About the Project

Hello everyone, I'm Overlord Kaktus/Gold/Ruki Studios. Probably you remember me for other projects like Pokémon Ragnarök (Or maybe not hahaha). I'm a Spanish-speaker romhacker and a former GBC romhacker (from 2010 to May 2014). This time I'll show to you guys an old project that I decided to restart, and I really hopw this project would be finished.

This project was started around late 2010. At that moment the project was only an "idea" that was stopped in 2015, but now it was redone from scratch.

The project is highly inspirated in the Chaos Rush's hack "Pokemon Dark Violet". in other words, this hack is also a "reboot" (Or try to be) of Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal, making many of the events from scratch and showing a new storyline keeping the escence of the original story, with a heavy inspiration of the original HGSS remakes and some concepts seen only in Polished Crystal.

Keep in your mind, this isn't a remake like Liquid Crystal, CrystalDust or ShinyGold. This intends to be a reboot from Pokemon Gold and Silver, using some ideas from Pokémon Crystal and HGSS, making a unique and unseen story of Johto.

    Storyline

I have no idea how to describe the main plot and storyline since many events are essentialy the same form HGSS/GSC, so we can at least assue the plot may remain the same (Tbh is not the same, but at least you may get a surprise by playing the game.

    What is New?

    • A renewed storyline, keeping the escence of the original games.
    • New event never seen before in any GSC remake.
    • Maps based off HGSS ones.
    • Introducing Mega Evolution mechanics in the main storyline (Not available yet).
    • RZE tile system.
    • Day and Night system and day/time-based events.
    • Wild Pokémon switching depending on the time.
    • Original soundtrack ripped from HGSS (Initially used GogojjTech's low quality music, but I decided to rip them by myself with a way better quality).
    • Phisycal/Special split moves.
    • New Pokédex with some Gen 4-6 Pokémon.
    • Introducing the PokéRides, Items that replace the outdated HM mechanics.
    • Some new Gen 4-8 Moves included, also custom moves are included.
    • Type chart updated.
    • New puzzles for some areas.
    • Plenty of updated graphics (like Battle backgrounds, bag, Trainer card, almost everything.)
    • Most of trainers use different rosters.
    • New locations in Johto and Kanto.
    • Updated Pokémon cries to match Gen 7/8 ones.
    • New locations for some Pokémon.
    • IN-battle trainer messages.
    • An almost working PokéGear.
    • Exp. Share almost identical to Gen 8 (Item is disabled by default, easy to enable)
    • Mechanics, items and more almost updated to match Gen 8.
    • Daily Wondertrade with in-game trainers.
    • Move tutors on every PC.
    • And even more...

    Known Bugs

    • The game is kinda unplayable in real hardware and mGBA/Retroarch cores (Some flashcards have different weird bugs in battles, others just crash). Saves from releases prior beta 2 are uncompatible due to major RAM changes.
    • Fast forward speed is kinda laggy because of High quality music mixer using plenty of memory to run. (But we got high quality music)
    • After you run out of Pokémon and if the last visited place was your mom's house, the respawn coordinates will be wrong.
    • Eggs may ocassionaly get experience, but it resets when hatching.
    • Some battle texts, like Leftovers' message or damage reduction berries message before taking damage, are shown blank, but they work fine.
    • Some emulators may be laggy for a very short time when pressing up in the main menu (It's not a bug at all)
    • The vs bars are affected by DNS (It's not a bug at all)
    • Some doors are not yet animated (It's not a bug at all)

    F.A.Q.

    1. Whatever happened to your old hackroms? (Ragnarök)
I have no more ideas and inspiration to continue that hackrom. It's not cancelled at all, but I have no plans to continue with it right now.

    2. Is this hack a remake of GSC like ShinyGold, Liquid Crystal or GoldenSun?
Heck no! This hack is a reboot, the same objetive but different storyline and scripts. The story is a mashup of the concepts of Pokemon Gold, Crystal, Heart Gold and personal concepts.

    3. Will this hackrom have more than one rival (Silver)?
Yes, I can only confirm another rival now, your gender counterpart is another rival.

    4. Why did you choose this style for the female player?
It's based on this old artwork (I have no idea at this time who the artist is. The artwork was taken from a fake leak from HGSS around 2009) https://i.imgur.com/3VC01Ep.jpg

    5. Do you have plans to put Kanto and more regions?
Kanto is confirmed. A Johto story without Kanto is incomplete, lol, and nope, I have no plans to put more regions, only Johto and Kanto
