My first games were the Gen 3 Kanto remakes. However I was also not old enough to know english. (my Pokemon nicknames were gibberish letters). But for me it's still sentimental enough to feel as a starting region.

Yeah, they were better at getting to the actual game. Rival dialogue, tutorials, story intros. They seem to take longer and longer with each entry. I'm more inclined to replay Gen 2 for the sake of avoiding an hour of tutorial text.

Ironically that serves as a complex question. Complexity can be good under the correct circumstance, and sometimes it's nice thinking outside of traditional black and white. The Count is the best muppet.

A little late on this response (the topic has kinda moved away). As someone who also watched the entire MCU, it's an example of something being mainstream but clearly not being the best the movie industry has to offer. I liked the MCU. But I also understand why people feel superhero fatigue...
