Pokemon Adventures FRLG arc (Vol.23-26) Release Thread

Okay, so with everyone suddenly sending in their scans, I felt it was time to make my contribution to this community. The FRLG arc has always been my favourite of the series, and it would be a crime not to share them here with you guys :)

Edit: 9/6/08: LINKS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FOR THE TIME BEING as I don't want this thread locked down. YES I will be scanning in Vol.24 and correcting the errors in Vol.23. Since we're not allowed to post direct downloads, I will probably PM minakichan or omni89 when I am done with the links so they can add it to the PokeSpe site.

I'll update this post when the links are up at the new site, okay? I'm just as bummed as the rest of you about the new rule, but at least we can still get scans somehow, right? Sigh. I guess that'll be our new hangout, huh?

ps If you're looking for old scans (though apparently vol.23 has lots of errors in them) they've already been put up on the illusory-fragments site :)

It's just the PokeSpe scanslation team have been working quite hard at vol.25 now and this is like the 12th project that's had to be abandoned coz someone suddenly decided to appear with original scans...we would of course, appreciate any help you can give with the scanslations process! And if you can scan in Vol.24, that'd be great. But if you don't want to rip your book apart, that's fine too, mine are already pretty torn enough already haha.

I can clean them while you upload chapter per chapter or entire volume as you like.
send me scans or upload them here, then I reupload them cleaned.

It is true that a lot of projects were abandoned because of sudden uploads...but doesn't it seem that the scanlation team were the reason all those volumes were uploaded/found? If they didn't start their project I think we still would've only had Nicoleb's 9 volumes. It does feel that way doesn't it?

Thanks Cem! I've said it before many times and I stand by it: People are inspired by action. We got the ball rolling with the scanlation project and the buzz it caused inspired people to come forth and add to the momentum and now look where we are. Maybe progress has been a little slow the past few weeks and it can be annoying to start something only to have to stop it prematurely, feeling like all that work was for nothing, but think again. In the end we all get what we want, more Pokemon Special/Adventures, and who can argue with that.

P.S. - We can always clean and edit the volumes that Viz and Chuang-Li dubbed down/rapped. XD

@ omni89: I hear ya, and I'm glad the scanlsation project has helped spark this interest but it's really REALLY frustrating having spent all those hours and having to drop everything. I think it's suffice to say the 'inspiration' is rolling in full steam now, so there's not much more need to supplement it anymore. I mean, I only recently joined the project but minakichan and everyone's spent ages getting the site and everything up, and we haven't been able to actually release an entire scanlslation volume yet because things keep getting picked up and dropped. I AM very grateful to .Aaron for offering his share, it would be ridiculous to discourage more participation from members, but morale's just really low at the moment because everytime someone offers to start up a new scanslation, it's likely someone's going to come up and offer to scan the original Chuang Yi, you know?

And yes, we could clean up/edit the raped up Viz and Chuang Yi versions, but honestly, who would read it when the originals are available? It's like 'choose the professional, OFFICIAL copy or just a fed up scanslation team's attempts to get something, ANYTHING done!' you know?

I'm debating whether I should even bother scanning in the raws of 26 now...the Chuang Yi version is out and I just KNOW that as soon as I finish scanning them all in someone will pop in with the original copy. I'm not complaining that people are contributing, it's just one of those c'est la vie moments because so much time could have been saved. I mean, what am I going to do with my 25 RAWs now, you know? Hmm.

Oh dear. I hope I didn't sound too *****y/ungrateful/miserable here. It wasn't intentional! =D It's like 1 in the morning and I'm very sleepy, which doesn't help... @_@

@.Aaron: So are you scanning for sure? Could we get a status report so we know what to pick up/drop/continue?

@ladygalaxy: *chuckle* Well met mi'lady; just let it all out. Maybe I haven't put the kind of effort into the project as the managers, typesetters, cleaners, and translators have but I can certainly empathize with how all of you feel. Overall, the project was a success as it has persuaded people to donate their volumes for all of us to enjoy, but I agree that continuing it now would not be such a great idea. Progress may not be instantaneous but it's a safe bet that we will eventually have up to Volume 26 scanned and posted here and that if interest keeps growing people will keep on buying and scanning the Chuang-Li translations thereafter. However, there is always a chance that people like the scanlation team will be needed again, and we should all never forget that it was Nicoleb's initial post, Mina's vision, and the determination of our own forum members that has gotten us where we are today.

Alright, I think that that is enough ranting. We all appear to be on the same page so let's just leave this thread for what it was originally intended for: VOLUMES 23-26!

Don't worry, you get all the credit you deserve man. Can't wait to see those scans. This may be a little late but thanks a lot for spending your money and sacrificing your grades in order to get those volumes for the community. That's some serious dedication and should be recognized to the fullest extent. Just work on getting those grades up this marking period; school a pain in the @ss but you gotta get the knowledge from somewhere.
