Do you despise it? I honestly hate it when people I know curse around kids, even though I know it gets around otherwise. Sometimes I believe it degrades people. These days, censors aren't really helping.

I really hate how swear words are thrown about so casually, especially around children that over time causes them to be jaded by it. A lot of people I know tend to swear to build a sort of cool image of themselves, it's sad to know that they're so oblivious to the fact it makes them look foolish.

They're just words, I think. If they weren't treated as such "OH NO!" things, everybody'd probably say them and they wouldn't be a big deal. And in most cases, there are other words that mean exactly the same thing that aren't considered profane, so it can't be what the word means. :\

That said, the only reason I'll ever watch my language is to not get in trouble with anyone. Can't really help it when the people who are in charge want to be anal. When I'm in a situation where I'm not going to get kicked in the face for saying anything, I'll say any word in the book.

Most words that are used more commonly don't bother me that much, cause kids are gonna hear them around anyway.. XD
But the worser ones, I just think is sad... O_o

    They're just words.

    I use 'em.

    Other people use 'em.

It's not hurting anyone. If it offends you, get over it.

Everyone uses bad language, makes them think they're cool or something. I normally avoid it, but when I get really angry with someone, a huge argument will normaly erupt. On forums you should use normal language and not bad words or whatever, as an eight year old could stumble upon a thread or something.

But eight years olds I know swear. So I guess bad words and everything are over-hyped.

I try to avoid it sometimes, but when I'm really angry, I just can't help it. But I do know how to control myself when I'm around kids.

I've never cursed in my life actually, except for when I was a kid and I didn't know what I was doing. XD

I dont care about them much. My boyfriend uses them constantly so it doesnt bother me and I use them alot too but only if I mad or really excited over something.

What I dont like is when they are used around little kids. No one should be allowed to cuss around small children.

I avoid swearing at all costs really. I strongly dislike how children can be around and learn such things an early age, they shouldn't be learning those words at their ages.

Though, I may let some out if I ever get a huge temper, though that too is extremely rare.

This may be hocus pocus, but I believe words have energy. Why do people feel hurt with some words?
It's just like listening to music. I'm being obvious here, they do impact one--depending on the individual. Even written words.
Just not too long ago, I found an article where they tried it out with snowflakes.

Now, when it comes to normal conversations; I find profanity to be dirty. Almost trashy.
Casually done, it makes their circle get an uncomfortable (because it's private) or stupid/angry atmosphere. It's either unwelcoming or sickening.

Personally, I don't like when one abuses profane words, so I just avoid them. I don't feel hurt because I'm used to them. If I see a friend starting to say 'em frequently, I usually ask them just to calm down.

I like to be treated with respect, so I normally don't swear out loud.

Although I'm alright when it's done in a humorous case, because overall, you laugh at a joke because you didn't expect the outcome.

I think it's best for kids to stay away from profanity and they should just stick with creative alternatives or better yet, learn interesting vocabulary.
As for others, I think people should tone them down and use them whenever necessary like venting out anger. Unless you live in an area where everyone likes to appear unpleasant and you want to 'fit in.'

My biology class actually read an article about that as well last year, it's pretty intersting.

Now, I rarely swear or use profanity. I think there are more efficient ways of getting your point across than to swear your head off. I'm not saying that I don't swear at all because words do slip from time to time. I'm just talking about using the f-bomb every other word. It gets annoying and I'm pretty sure there are other words out there can be used instead.

Some profanities are just words that society thinks is a bit worse than others.
Example; consider 'damn', that used to be the height of swearing about a centrury ago, it all depends where you are and how you use them.

When it's said on the spur of the moment, such as an exclamation, if it's cultural or when really really annoyed, then although a synonym could be used, I don't see to much of a problem.
When people use it for the sole purpose of looking cool because they know it's a rebellious way of speaking then that really annoys me, especially when they're chavs.

See, it's hard for me to call. Like Jaimes said, if it's a spur-of-the-moment kinda thing, like, if you hurt yourself and just let out a swear, I don't have a problem with it. However, if people are just sitting around, swearing unnecessarily because they think it makes them look cool or tough or whatever, then I do, because it's annoying.

What I really can't stand are people who swear unnecessarily in front of small children, especially when they're fully aware the children are there. I don't stand for that at all, especially since I work around them. u_u

Yeah...swearing on the internet annoys me sometimes, mostly if the rules prohibit it. Although on some forums the "D" and "A" words aren't considered swearing.

I'm a hypocrite about it, as I tend to swear a lot now IRL. Mostly in school and when I'm interrupted...or when I get stressed, which happens a LOT. :(

What annoys me more than cussing unnecessarily, is poor grammar.
Seriously, people need to learn proper English, or not post a reply at all.
