Which once again is why I use Countercoat.

Yeah, I know, I need to stop posting that repeatedly.

I'll post some of my Smeargle sets tomorrow.

The only problem I have with countercoat is that it's 50/50. You say that 60% of moves are Special attacks. However, Smeargle is weak against fighting which most of the fighting attacks are physical (with the exception of aura sphere and focus blast). But just based on what pokemon your up against is also another factor into determining if the attack will be physical or special. Like most psychic pokemon use special attacks. So using countercoat is very risky.

Yes, it is risky. And since I learned (from the help of you guys) that there is a way to dodge Spore, I came to think.

I have a Smeargle, its going to be an HM slave.

Countercoat is cheap and smeargle doesnt have the defences or HP to pull it off more than twice. Leave the gimmick sets to wobuffet :)

Smeargle for me always prompts a switch to a sleep absorber, and the threat of imminent Spore is what makes Smeargle dangerous as it is most commonly used for BPing stat boosts, disabling almost any PHazer.

This almost always reveals the strategy, and since many of the sleep absorbers are also PHazers, Snorlax and Zapdos to name a few, Smeargle will almost always attempt to Spore.

Smeargle has a lower BST than Squirtle. The only stat you should be focusing on is speed, or more HP to survive that extra CB Caterpie Tackle or something.

I like Abso just like your brother, but here's a tip. Open him up to the advantages of better pokes, e.g. Spiritomb

how do recharge moves e.g. giga impact, and 2nd turn moves like focus punch, work with slaking?

also, can truant be skill swapped away in a double battle?

They work the same as they normally would on any other poke, which means you still have to recharge after using Giga Impact and Focus Punch still fails if you get hit and it fails if you use it on the second turn as thats when Traunt kicks in.

Yes, Traunt can be skill swapped away =)

so hyperbeam, etc, does the recharge negate truant, or does it take 2 turns to move again?

and any suggestions for a skill swapper for slaking? i was thinking filter mime or levitate claydol?

No, still only one. However, it makes you set-up fodder for your opponent, because unlike a Normal Traunt Turn, you can't switch out AT ALL.

How about Jirachi with Baton Pass? (If you can pass Skill Swap)(if you alsop have a Jirachi). I think the recharge negates truant. Try it in-game and see.

Recharge negates Truant, forcing you to stay in just like Outrage. Except Giga Impact is only 225 BP after STAB, and even if you manage a kill you are easily revenge-killed.

I would recommend using Slaking as a CBer, hits hard once then runs out.

In Doubles it is more advisable to use Gastro Acid on Slaking thus negating Truant, but this strategy is risky and very easy to spot, the users of Gastro Acid are few and most people would concentrate their attacks on Slaking, Taunt/Fake Out the Gastro Acider, or set up their own strategies while you set up. Another drawback is that it depends on Slaking to accurately make use of the strategy.

I personally like the baton set smeargle.

Use spore first, then ingrain, then stat up, then pass. This way, phasers cant blow away your stat ups, and you still get healing.

Well, that Smeargle in the first post wouldn't work against Sandstorm leads, which are a bit common. If the opponent isn't ready for you, he can get in an easy kill, but his usefulness runs out after switching out. With the Endure/Endeavor strategy, field hazards would kill when switching back in, and anything with a priority attack would beat you, unless you are using Extremespeed, in which case a faster opponent, like Weavile, could beat it with Ice Shard.

He has his uses, but overall, he doesn't stand a chance in OU.

FEAR doesn't suck, it's just really unfair. But like pkmn breeder jack said, weather conditions also have to be put into consideration. But in BP, what's gonna stop Smeargle from fainting? Unless it has FS, the first attack will knock it out. Also, once again, if the opponent has lum berry, spores attack was wasted and it will be taken out.
