honestly i dont see how the show manages to stay on air. to me, in my opinion, i think its stupid and pointless. now the games, on the other hand, are a different story in itself. They are kick ass =]

I agree, but I didn't know about the games until I watched the anime, honestly. That's why I say keep the anime, it keeps the game running.
Also @ Ebon, I agree, the shows are getting a lot better.

I honestly skip past all the Team Rocket stuff when it comes along.. but other than that I like the new character Dawn. Although she was first at tough.. she now cries all the freakin time.

I wish she would fight gym leaders along with contests or maybe just gym leaders. It kind of gets boring around all the contests episodes.. but other than that it's all fine to me.

You complainers do realize the anime has been repetitive since day one? The anime hasn't changed, you just grew out of it.

I'm glad lots of other people have noticed

I swear I'm going to start copying some Serebii threads here.

Maybe you should. I don't go to Serebii much because the forums seem to go really slow there (but the last time I went there a lot was when DP came out, so it's understandable, I suppose heh). And it might inspire different kinds of threads here. ^^

    *points*

Please, people. The Pokemon formula has been like this since the get-go. And it's not going to change, and it never did change. It never got worse - in fact, I think it got better. If you don't like the Pokemon anime, then you can not watch it and be happy.

And you never "fix" something which isnt broken cause then it gets worse and worse until its dead from how crappy it got.

  • I lost interest in the Anime a long time ago now. Its just all the same to me and theres not really anything different about it. I still love to play the games though, they are cool.

  • my opinion about the anime is that its getting old and repetitive. Why? well think of it like this. in each season, Ash does the same thing. he goes from town to town trying to catch new pokemon and meeting new people and trying to win badges. Does anyone else here agree with me and if so why?

The problem with people like you is that all you do in moan and whine without giving any new solutions or ideas to improve the show.

Repetitive - Of course. The basic concept of the show has been repetitive since day one. Not sure why you're complaining about this now.

The majority of TV programmes are repetitive. If every single programme had to be 100% original, they'll be nothing to watch on the TV.

Old - Of course, it's been around for more than 10 years. Most shows could not even dream of having the same lifespan as Pokemon.

Their thing is that, there's not much avenue for change without completely destroying the show. They've actually tried their hardest to keep the show fresh, brought in new faces (despite many complaints), introduces contests, gave Ash an almost secondary role etc etc.

Anyway what would you change to make the show better?

I feel like it is improving since it went downhill in Advance. Many new situations and they are including more game refrences.

  • Here we go AGAIN. The only thing I find repetitve about the anime is Team Rocket and how they're always after Pikachu and/or the Pokemon of the day. Like Ash wisely said: "Those guys need a hobby or something!!"

It's at least getting a little bit better since Jessie is now doing contests. But it'd be nice if James got something to do too.

Yeah, the anime is getting worse. It's as if they're getting short on idea's.

It isn't getting worse,, it's pretty much the same quality it's always had (with some improvements in animation). And it's really easy to come up with ideas when all you need to do is think of how to make a video game that has monsters with powers, and bring that into animated life.

Opinion though, but I think Sinnoh is the best. Less COTD/fillers, more character development, and a ton of reoccurring characters , along with a variety of rivals. It still has a lot of the same repetitiveness, but they're actually trying to build off of continuity, instead of doing an episode and then acting like it never happened 2 weeks later.

There has been so much Pokemon anime though, they've covered so much it looks like they're copying previous episodes with minor differences.

Again, that's been going on since Kanto. It's nothing new. The games, anime, movies have always had a "formula" to them.

    Meh, whatever you say ;)

It's not really up to debate. The Pokemon anime has been repetitive since day one. If someone's complaint about the show is how repetitive it is, then they probably never liked the show in the first place. Seriously, go re-watch some old Kanto episodes and come back and say that those are something the Sinnoh episodes should live up to. The lack of continuity in Kanto is amazing, with Ash reversing a trade to get Buttefree back, and then releasing it a few episodes later. And while I'm fine with them never appearing again, Primeape and Pidgeot never got an "end" to their story, whereas Lapras and Butterfree got a proper ending to their journey.

Some complaints are actually valid, to a point. Quality of animation, voice acting (dub only), characterization, (lack of) continuity. But someone who is crying over how repetitive it is is in the wrong franchise. Pokemn is built off of repeating the same message of love, friendship, and buying more merchandise.
