yo hack-mew i love your work say when are you gonna relese the others

I have no idea actually. I'm a busy person...

How doyou keep r opponents pokemon when starter pokemon is Chosen

Well, you need a trainer editor such as A-Trainer.

Thank you very much for these tools HackMew, These have really helped me make my first pokemon hack a reality. I'm still not very familiar with scripting but XSE is the best out of all the script editors I've tried. Do you think you can make a tool that can edit the title screen of the games?

Edit titlescreens... what would you expect from a related tool?

Hey Hackmew, I have a problem.
When I open XSE 1.1 it closes after 2 seconds.
    Any idea why?

Well, for those interested we got that fixed after some hours. Guess what? His computer was full of malware. At least it wasn't XSE's fault ;)

Wow these tools are awesome. Thank you

    You're welcome.

I keep Having problems with A-Starter.
I pull up a ROM, do my changes, click "Save ROM", check the ROM with VBA, the starters didn't change... I pull up ROM on A-Starter again, it shows the same starters that I set!

What is going on with it? Am I doing something wrong?

Are you sure you're using latest version?

Something to add to the XSE guide.
I can confirm that special 0xAB randomly decides whether to make you battle from the "tree" wild pokemon in A-map.

Well, nothing new actually. You know, when you do a lot of things it's easy to forget something :P

Oh! Really nice tools, thank you very much for these.

    Welcome ^^

    I have a suggestion for A-starter.
Idk if it should be built into it or be a separate tool. I was thinking that it could maybe have an option to edit the poocheyena or zigzagoon in r/s/e that you fight after you get your first pokemon.

I have looked around for a way to edit it and have been asking people but I still don't know how to change it...

Yeah, I thought about that already. I "just" need to find out how to change Poochyena/Zigzagoon.

Maybe that can be it's own tool. :)

The tutorial added to XSE is very helpful, thank you.

You're welcome, but what do you mean exactly by "Maybe that can be it's own tool." o.O ??

Hey HackMew what about a tool that lets you edit the tile animations

Well, that would be better if implemented directly into AdvanceMap, don't you think?

I found what I think is a typo in the XSE guide.

    typoinguide.jpg

All right, thanks for letting me know. If you find any other typos, or errors etc. please drop me a line. It's amazing how much people don't read the guide though, uh?

Yes, sure. The "official" Emerald scripting dump has far more 00s than FFs. That's why, by default, XSE will use 00 (and not FF) as free-space byte. (BTW, same happens with AM, for example). How to solve the problem? There's a directive called #freespace.
Check the guide for further information. Also, make sure you're using latest XSE.

Hello, when I use the A-Trainer, it gives me a "Sub-script is out of range" popup. I know this is probably just my ignorance and lack of knowledge on the issue, but is it possibly the need for the images of the pokemon and trainers? If so, how do I go about 'adding' those. If not, what could be the problem? Also, no idea if this could affect it, but I'm using Windows Vista. Thanks.

Please specify when exactly do you get that error, and how.
Also, A-Trainer reads the pictures directly from the ROM so it won't ever need any extra images.

Ah, sorry. Wasn't thinking. It's whenever I open the ROM with A-Trainer. After about a second, it gives the popup.

Please be more detailed. Which ROM? And what do you exactly after you open A-Trainer and you load the ROM?

On the Advanced Trainer thing how do I add in my own custom trainer sprites, everytime I try to open up my own custom one it says,"Run-time error '380': Invalid property value."

I wonder how do you actually add them, since A-Trainer is not supposed to be a sprite editor. FYI, those sprites are LZ77 compress: unLZ is the way to go.

I open FireRed with A-Trainer and nothing else. It's the moment it's opened that I get the popup. File - Open ROM... - Fire Red - "Run Time Error 9: Subscript out of range"

Sorry but... who talked about colors? To edit the image on the trainer card, you need unLZ like I said. If you have other questions regarding that, please ask in the Simple Questions thread.

I bet the ROM isn't clean, is it? What happens if you do the same with a clean one instead?

I've tried using the original, clean ROM. As well as, downloading new Fire Red ROMs to see if it was just the original. (about 3 or 4 different site sources) All this to no prevail, it still gives me the error.

    (EDIT)
This is also why I think something weird is going on, as well. I've tried it with other ROMs, too. In fact, all of the advanced ROMs.

XSE comes with a nice tutorial that makes getting started quite easy. If that's not enough, you could try looking in the Documents and Tutorials section.

  • A-Trainer seems cool. I've been playing around with it and it's worth editing something good in my Fire-Red (J) game.

    Nice work so far.

I downloaded the Start Map Chooser Advance and put in my Fire red ROM It changed the map all fine. One thing I was wondering though is there a way to change the users X/Y Starting Coordinates?
