The man himself put this into the game though... he even mentions it on his blog. =\ He wants it to be known!!

He wants people to connect with the GTS. Trade with each other and still have fun.

Try hatching some eggs. It's not fun. The odds aren't broken enough. I will use this because it will still be tough to pull off.

It's no joke, AFAIK, unless Smogon is imparted to it and it's been going on for some time.

As it turns out, my brother hasn't reached the daycare in his Japanese game (casual player, peh, :P) so I'm hitting the #spp-wifi chat to see if I can track one down, which is surprisingly difficult.

And 1/2048 is hardly trivial. I'm not sure if it ever came up, but the rule in my mind is that the odds should be better than 1/1000 to truly count as enhanced beyond reason. Since most of the breedable Pokémon, spare a few, can be caught through easier means, the only real thing this changes is that these Pokémon, as shinies, are now open to having strong IVs and egg moves.

If that were the case, then I'd claim some chained shinies as random then. I've had plenty of chain 2/3 shinies. Vibrava. Lickitung. And it's up to about a chain of 30 before you break 1,000, I do believe.

It's on a 21-chain or less, actually, since up to 4 patches can shake. (The worst-case scenario must be taken until proven otherwise.) And this is what we call a troll post. You can count them if you want to, but shinies past 21 are going to be considered duplicates of those found before 22.

Just like cloning is a glitch, and thus legal, but we don't count cloned shinies because they're duplicates of other Pokémon and share the same random process, if you want to count shinies found before 22 on chains, then those found after are considered duplicates. If you've found more than one shiny from a single chain before 22 then you have a ton of luck and may go ahead and count them both.

well ive only been shiny hunting for a month so i dont have alot =/

zubat x2
and i caught a surskit today[took me 3 hours just to catch one -_-]

and im currently searching for a ponyta and a ralts but the ralts is so damn hard to chain =/

So far, I've pulled two Japanese Skorupi off the GTS, and BOTH of them were Timid. -.- The second one cost me a Latios. This could take a while.

Edit: Hiei: Just make sure you follow all of the chaining rules. Chains, especially of rare Pokémon, like to break on their own anyway, so you need to be persistent.

Thanks, and welcome to the club.

You seem to have some experience chaining, so I don't understand what you are having trouble with. Ralts is a rare Pokemon and chains tend to break easy with rare Pokemon so you just have to keep trying.

I SR'd, recorded hatching and then SRing and hatching again to prove that if you save before each egg you can SR it for better IVs and I will, thanks for my stockpiled Platinum rare candies that I traded over when I traded my shinies over to Platinum.

Always make sure that all of the grasses that shake are the same kind and the kind you found your Pokemon in, and that the one that is farthest away isn't touching a wall or edge.

This means that all 4 must be Rare grass if you found Ralts in Rare grass..

I don't plan to stop hatching for shinies, even though I said I would.

Congrats DDD on your shiny Magikarp.

I'm going to be starting a secret shiny breeding project fairly soon. I just need to trade a few of my Japanese Pokemon from Platinum to Diamond. I plan on getting it started by the end of the day, and start my hatchings the weekend(off Saturday and Sunday :D)

I am not going to do the method mentioned on smogon, I'm just going to hatch my eggs the normal way. That is much more satisfying to me, and I won't be using the Platinum RNG either, as I plan on hatching in Diamond. At least SRing for shinies is safe for now on Platinum(until they crack that as well, >_>)

I'm still SRing for shiny Chimchar in Platinum 2, but I think I'll switch to shiny Turtwig instead. I haven't evolved the one I got in DP, so if the Platinum one is better, I'll evolve that instead.
