What!! I love that show! What a shame.
Flapjack isn't all that good though.

Honestly, I despise Courage the Cowardly Dog. There's absolutely nothing funny.

    Well, it's a good thing I don't and can't watch CN anymore.
Not necasarilly cancelled, but not being renewed. (Source:https://nerdarmada.blogspot.com/2009/05/chowder-grows-up.html0
Flapjack is great. Has great artwork. It's really funny and has some adult humor in it too.

Also, no, just no. Courage is fantastic. It's pretty funny, and it can also creep the hell outta you (Return the slab episode and Fred).

But yeah, what we ahve to blame for is one Canada (Teletoon, I believe), for giving us their crappy Flash cartoons. Adobe Flash for making quick, cheap, poor quality cartoons, instead of hand drawn cartoons which ultimately look better, and Live Action being easier to produce then hand drawn cartoons.

Yeah, I agree with the OP.

Is it just me or are most American cartoon shows slowly becoming dumber and dumber? Don't even get me started on the new Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Gone the way of Disney and Nickolodeon. The reason that they change is because children are getting more and more stupid. Disney doesn't run That's So Raven because they like chick's fashion sense or unique, blaring personality. Kids like it. Sad, but simple.

On a sidenote, Courage is my favorite non-adult cartoon. It influenced everything from my sense of humor to taste in music to artistic style.

    God, I miss having cable.

Whoever is running CN is obviously retarded, or else they'd get that their network isn't good at all anymore. CN had a tad bit of hope left with the Thursday nights, but now... it's not even Cartoon Network anymore.

Chowder isn't coming back, which kills it. Flapjack isn't coming back, which... well, Flapjack wasn't really good anyway. TDA, 6teen... I don't know what to say about them. They're both good cartoons, but you don't even feel like you're watch CN when they're on.

The last straw for me was when they canceled Foster's. The last episodes weren't funny, but it was still Foster's, which made me happy. The only really good show they had before it's... illness?

CN would be okay if they kept the reruns of the old cartoons. The only way to bring it back to life would be to stop showing crap like Ben 10, Batman: The Brave And The Bold and The Secret Saturdays, and brought replaced them with some of their best. Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Courage, Teen Titans, Billy and Mandy, Kanto-Johto Pokemon seasons, etc. But they can't get through they're retarded brains that the cartoons they're showing now, (except for a few) are crap.

And Reality Shows? What the heck? It's Cartoon Network, not Reality Network. Jeez, I never thought the day would come that I would be seeing reality shows on a channel that was supposed to be cartoons only. That's insane. What's next, Home Shopping Channels? What happened to it? It's not even Cartoon Network, they might as well change the name.

What's funny is I was having the same conversation with a friend about a week ago, and this exactly what I said to her:

The fact that Cartoon Network is making reality TV shows proves how desperate it is for ratings.

They still do show the classics:
    Teen Titans (Afternoon)
Powerpuff Girls (Night - 11.00 PM)

The last straw for me was My Spy Family on Boomerang when they let the cast say "Perv and crap" on it and it was shown all the time.

What's missing with these new cartoons (with the important exception of Flapjack) is that they are lacking the ever so important second layer of humour for the teenagers, which dramatically reduces the audience. The shows that used low level, unintellegent humour survived, and that's why CN is a terrible network.

You could even go as far as to say that's what happened to Nick as well. Around 2004, when Spongebob began to lose momentum and humour, the channel became notorious for bland humour, except on reruns.

This is one reason why I refuse to procreate. I hate to think of spawning another person to be raised on this stuff. I can't exactly force him/her to not like it, either, 'cause he/she would be his/her own person, and you know how the cycle goes. :/

    I loved Courage. It had a very unique style of humor. I almost forgot Megas XLR; that was hilarious, albeit short-lived. ;~;

Dexter's Lab was one of my faves, before they changed the art and made it less funny, and then got rid of it entirely. Johnny Bravo wasn't one I was too interested in, but again, they changed it for the worse and then got rid of it. PPG was neat until all the hype about it turned me off, but it was still a good show. Ed, Edd, & Eddy was a good one, too. My mom thought it was irritating, which I can understand, but I thought it was hilarious XD

Ah, Toonami. It was one of the first places I watched anime on. Kids' WB, I think, was the other (or wherever it was that they played the first season of Pokemon at the time it came out). I first watched DBZ on Toonami, as well as Rurouni Kenshin and a few others.

I guess good things must always pass, but one can still keep them alive in memories :3

I miss most of the old shows too. However, they now have a new channel called Boomerang, where you can see most of the older shows. Some of them which used to be on CN.

I don't understand why CN is making live action shows though... I mean doesn't that defeat the purpose of being a "CARTOON" network? o_o Next thing you know, they'll change the name.

It's just like Toon Disney. Toon Disney is no longer what it used to be either and now it's called Disney XD. They don't show the older disney shows anymore. D:

It seems like the only cartoon action you get is either from anime or from those corny baby shows like Blue's clues or Ni-hao kai lan. Though, even there getting live action ones.

I grew up with One Saturday Morning, you know the usual doug, Pepper ann, Rugrats, Tale Spin, Duck tales... you name it. I was a total cartoon freak and I still am... though now, all I watch is either Boomerang or Adult Swim on Saturdays when they show their usual anime block. That's about it. I can't watch anything Live-action because I get bored of it and unless it's a movie or something like Degrassi... I can't keep my eyes on it. >_<

The cartoon industry is going done fast. I think because most teenagers today are into live action stuff. D: It just sucks.

    *hugs in agreement*

I loved the old days, back in the nineties with all those kind of shows. I guess that's why I haven't been watching TV anymore, with the important exception of Mythbusters and the occasional news.

Oh gawd, just hearing the title brings me back to that show, Whatever Happened to Robot Jones?. It was so freaking awesome, along with Dexter, PPG, Johnny Bravo and others. They show most of those now on Boomerang, which I am able to watch, but not WHtRJ?. Really, what happened to him?

Anyway, I do wanna know why they decided to show reality shows. For gawd's sake, it's called Cartoon Network for a reason. I'm not sure if even half the people that used to watch CN even like these new shows. They're interesting, maybe, but they're showing it on the wrong channel. Wouldn't something like Discovery[Kids?] show them?

And don't get me started on Fridays. I loved tuning in to watch them. Sure, that could be classified as reality too, but it wasn't really a show. Just part as the 'we'll be back' commercial break. And it was awesome. I think there's a replacement for that, but I can't really remember the name. Something like ____-Dynamite? It's fairly good, but just doesn't seem as great as Fridays was.

I know I am younger than most people, but I still got a taste of the old CN, even the old look of Toonami. It was great while it lasted, and our only hope of seeing some of it again is by the aforementioned Boomerang. So, like many have said before, R.I.P Cartoon Network. We hardly knew ya...Well, maybe I didn't. But still, we'll miss you.

Entertainment from watching TV was already long gone before I moved out and chose not to get cable. It's a shame kids don't have any taste anymore these days. Everything's going downhill. Barbies weren't exactly a good influence, but now they have Bratz and all that even worse stuff. Plus Myspace and the fact that it's generally considered okay for 9-year-olds to have cell phones.

    But I'm getting off-topic.

The bottom line is, Between CN, Nick, Disney, and everything else I mentioned, the stuff kids are brought up on is getting worse and worse. I think the 90s was the last decade that kids were able to grow up on decent entertainment, and not all the bull they've got now. Back in the day, kids' shows had value to them, and some even had life lessons. Some weren't afraid to show things like death.
I'm proud to have been a part of that generation.

Nowadays, all kids are being shown is buttloads of drama, tasteless nonsense, and hoards of bratty child-stars that can't sing but do it anyway. I honestly would hate to see what the world might become when these people are the adults running it.

I love the Cartoon Network in Barbados, which is basically the Latin American one in English. :D They air the old shows like PPG and the Grim Adventures and the new shows like Chowder and Clone Wars. :D Plus for those reaaally old shows, they have this show called Cartoon Pop that airs cartoons from the early 90's and such. :D The only thing "live" that this CN has aired are movies.

One thing I didn't like about the American CN was that they kept changing the bumpers. They should've stopped at the cartoon city. :o
Then again, those Noods are pretty cute too...

This is true. The entertainment factor disappeared from TV a while ago. Ever since they finished Ed, Edd n' Eddy, CN has gone downhill. As well as Nick, and while I never watched it, Disney. But nowadays, it's all about the $$$. Which comes from how many people watch their program, buy the merchendise, and whatever.

The Early millenium wasn't bad. They still had the good shows on, and Megas XLR, which is my favorite cartoon premiered at that time, but ever since they got that new logo, things slowly went downhill.

Someone caught the refrence. WHtRJ was pretty good in my opinion, and while the shows are being shown on Boomerang, eventually either they will get pushed off, or become stale.

Another thing I miss is Toonami, I grew up watching shows on both Fridays and Toonami, especially when Toonami was on every day. As soon as I got home, I would turn on the TV and wait until Toonami came on. But, those days are over. Maybe, just maybe there will be a show like Animaniacs that had great humor that actually got past the censors.

    But I doubt it.

The only thing that really kept me from turning off Cartoon Network most of the time was Toonami. Once they removed that, I had not much use for the station. Adult Swim these days isn't too bad though, that kind of makes it better I suppose? Not only that though, Comcast removed CN from regular cable (at least over here... which really blows.)

Man do I miss Toonami... and KidsWB like someone else mentioned.

This, I agree with. I feel that the first couple of years in this millennium still hung on to plenty of good things entertainment-wise. As with any decade transition, it didn't all just disappear at once. The early 90s were still 80s-ish, so in the same way the early 00s were still 90s-ish. Megas was awesome. It was so awesome that it was the only cartoon I ever liked that involved giant robots.

Cartoon Network died when CN was born.

I started to watch Cartoon Network about '94 (it started '93 btw, not '95), when it was still owned by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons Inc. I really loved it.
SWAT Kats, Space Ghost, Wacky Races (my fav characters were Dick Dasterdly and Muttley), Dink the Dinosaur, Dexters Lab, Cow and Chicken, Huckleberry Hound, Top Cat, The Jetsons, Tom and Jerry and my absolute favourite, the "What a Cartoon!" show. ("Raw Deal In Rome", anyone?)
but after about 3 years, we suddenly could not get CN anymore. I saw the new one once, but there weren't any reality shows yet...
I think we're just grown out of it. also, I think there is some kind of... well, let's say, there was something different about cartoon network. for us, the former generation, who is used to the cartoon standards of the 90ies (for which I must say, it was quite more brutal than it is now). CN just moved on (too fast for us). what is standard for the CN watchers of today, is a "tease" for us.

old cartoons were the bomb. This CN real **** is very lame. The only good shows for me are TDA and Yugioh 5ds (and both of them are pretty bad)
