Hew,HackMew,I love A-Trainer.Finally,I can edit Team Magma/Aqua...

hey hackmew, i have a problem with my battle bg pallette.
it's not a problem with the image, i see that it worked fine.
I have edited the pallette, but when i change one value, other colors change as well!
O__O it's crazy i tell you!
I have the tilemap for pallettes set to 3
and in APE the first few colors are input, but in VBA pallette editor, they aren't right at all.
i've even taken the byte reversal and still they aren't correct.
Ape says that it isn't compressed, and i tried changing the pallettes through hex, still no luck.
Here's a screen of the battle bg:
j6kaap.jpg

A screenie of the pallette viewer:
2n1w6yx.jpg

Then Apes Screenie:
2z69l4p.jpg

then here is a lil bit of my ROM, the pallette starts 2 bytes before the AA7A
Spoiler:

I'm using a FireRed ROM US English. (BPRE)
What I did.
Made the battle bg.
Made the tile map.
Indexed it.
Inserted it (no repoint though)
Inserted tilemap (no repoint)
Then i worked on inserting the pallette through ape.
Now some of it works but as you can see from screenies, the majority don't work :\
Well, the battle background looks nice to me

haha, thanks?
lol, thanks hackmew, i finally figured it out.
(maybe i'll post a screenie of it working in a bit)
anyways, i picked up this HUUUUUUGGGEEE book from the library the other day.
It covers VB.NET and CS.NET.
I just read the stuff on VB, and was wondering, don't you program in VB?
it doesn't seem so difficult, but the book doesn't tell you much on which things to import if you don't want to use the actual .NET program (E.G. compile through cmd prompt) other than that it's not half bad at all. It sure beats only seeing a few books on C/C++ that don't even begin to touch on win32.

Well, I have a slight problem...

Yesterday, I downloaded XSE (Version 1.1.1.) Everything downloaded fine, and I had been reading the Guide, also. But the problem I have is that when I open XSE, and I click a Script to open, nothing comes up. It says the file's name in the tab, but none of the script's data appears in the space. I have to paste it in there myself. And when I compile, nothing comes up in the Compiler Output box. Is that supposed to happen?

I've messed around, and tried to Associate XSE with .rbc files, but I just get the same result. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, but I mostly program in VB6 which is totally different from VB.Net. If you need to choose a .Net language, then I think C# would be better.

Yeah, I'm sorry. That's a bug it has been reported already (and which has been fixed too) but I haven't had time to release the new A-Starter yet as I need to adjust/improve some other things.

Yay, new unLZ :D
I'll have to test it out when I'm all fitted in and can hack again.
Can't wait to see more tools.
Also, could the batch compiler problem I had be a Windows 7 related problem since it worked fine on Vista and XP.

I don't think the hidden Auto Abort option is a good idea...
For example, you replace Corphish with a DP Buizel sprite.
It's smaller that Corphish.
But then Platinum comes out and its sprites become popular!
How are you going to replace the DP buizel with the Pt one, knowing the image is smaller that Corphish, but bigger than the DP Buizel?
No way, I'm still using the one UnLZ.

I don't think so, as it has been working just fine for me. And I'm using Windows 7 too.

Well, obviously it doesn't matter if it's hacked or not, even if you better use the hacked one.

It would be better if you explain what are you doing exactly.

You don't think it's a good idea? That's because you don't know how to insert compressed sprites then. You need to realize you can't just overwrite the old sprite with a bigger one. You need to repoint it somewhere where's free space.

UPDATE: New Hacked unLZ! :)

Ooo I like the new unLZ Hackmew, even the UI seems more organized then before. Good job ;)

The addition to copy palette offsets will save sooooo much time too lol.

Close all other programs using that ROM and try again. Happens to me a lot when I have AdvanceMap open as well. :x

The new Hacked unLZ.gba is awesome, HackMew. ;3

I can tell you A-Intro is on the road, but something else might come without you expecting it. What? Surprise!

I DO know.
It's just that the sprite is smaller than the original one, but bigger than the one I replaced with the original one.
I know there is still space to insert that, but I can't insert it.
