  • Ooh, my new desktop is this:

Ahhh inefficient! My background is 100% homogeneous black. Of course, this is an Eee, so shaving out any and every performance-reducing detail is a necessity.

To be able to mock real novelists who dawdle on and on, taking far longer than 30 days to produce their work.

Yeah. I'm really going to mock J.R.R Tolkein for spending over 30 years of his life for creating one of the greatest pieces of literature ever rather than pumping it out in 30 days.
I do believe that was a joke.

Probably. It sounded like it, but I typically don't get jokes/sarcasm. Too literal-minded. Plus the contest is spearheaded by Kevin J. Anderson (yes, yes, I know...) whom has gone on record saying that quantity is more important than quality, and in near every interview of his I've read he prides himself in publishing his books before deadline. He's also derided other authors for "taking too long". With his mentality, and him behind the contest, it seems more like a "Just kidding, but not really".

And Redstar, that's just their strategy to make you feel awesome and get you writing, It's working, if you look at the widgets in my signature.

    Or this.
That's pretty damn cool. All charty, and progress. I'd love to have something like that. :D

Makes my OCD-ish side feel safe with all the charts and what-not. XD
But, it looks like you dropped below your target a few days.
Better bring out 'The Whip of Encouragement'. XD

Yah, I dropped a little behind a few days, but that big bold two thousand, nine hundred and something makes up for it. If you look at the progress graph here (under NaNo Stats) I'm well ahead of where I need to be.

  • Heh, I'd love to try that next year. Can't afford the time this year though. Plus I only found out what it was today <_<
Good luck to everyone who's entered I suppose.

Oh, that's all right. I only have to type seventeen words per minute for the next fifteen hours to catch up. Conversely, I could type sixty wpm, which I believe is around my typing speed, for the next 5 hours. Of course, that leaves little time to think.

Egh.... I wonder how many words I can type in one hour.... I'll wait until this hour hits equal (10 minutes as of this post) and I'll see how far I can go.

  • idk how many words I do an hour/minute. (cbb finding out either) It depends on many factors, I guess, as it would with anyone. How awake one is, whether one's little sister is being an annoying little asghfak, and how caffeinated the writer is, among other things.

Well let me tell you, I'm being stupidly OCD and lethargic today. I just had to generate the perfect synopsis and novel cover before I started writing. So two and a half hours later, I can finally begin.

Heh, I feel like this too some times. XD That's why I usually procrastinate when it comes to writing.

I can do 1000 words an hour if I'm not feeling lazy. And trust me, I have done 1000 words in an hour. XD

  • I like to type anyway. I can easily do about a thousand words in a hour--that is if I'm not having a writer's block. XD I'm soooooo getting carpel tunnel.

I believe it's Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

You should use an ergonomic keyboard. I use one and I've never had Carpal Tunnels Syndrome. Although, I do believe that it's hard to avoid when using a laptop to type 24/7. XD
