Have you ever given up Pokemon? And if so, did you fail miserably and go back to it?

A while back I decided, "Right, I'm 14 and still playing Pokemon. I need to stop now or i never will."

    So I gave up.

Days later when I arrived home I ran for my DS and booted up Pokemon and played for hours.

I think I will always play Pokemon. :D

Yes, I have...I gave it up when I was in middle school, I figured I was too old for it....but when RSE came out, I went crawling back to it. Been re-addicted ever since. I don't think I will ever stop playing. I mean, when other games get old or tiring, Pokémon never does!

I will probably be playing it long after I'm married, have kids, etc. etc....haha!

Not really have I "given up" on pokemon, though there are times where I stop playing for awhile, but then I play again randomly.

I quit briefly when the anime started sucking, which was when it hit Johto. I'd done all I could on my Silver version, having about 238/251 and about 600+ hours clocked.

I returned when the third gen rolled around, but I stopped watching the anime because it still sucked.

After beating it, I got Fire Red, and then quit again after beating it, being thoroughly bored with the third gen. :|

I came back right around the time I signed up here, and have rejoined the games and the anime. The anime is largely filler these days, but the games at least have better features...

Plus, I'm hard at work on my own Pokemon game, so yeah

I never given it up, but there have been months of time that I don't play any of my pokemon games. I mean I love them and their fun, but I have to be in the mood to start all over again.

I gave up right before G/S/C came out. I thought it was dumb that they were extending on the pokemon list, so I threw ALL of my cards away and put my gameboy up on my bookshelf, where it gathered dust for years.

Seven Years later, I started dating my current boyfriend (who is now my Fiance) who had never stopped playing and convinced me to get a DS and the game. So I did, and I haven't looked back since. I missed a LOT and had to get caught up with three generations of pokemon. I'm glad I'm back into it, I may be twenty one now but I love the games and I have played everything but the Gen II games at this point. I can't wait for HG/SS so I can see what I missed out on.

I have never given up per say, but I lost interest mostly in the show but I find myself not playing the games quite as much anymore. Right now however I am getting back into my crystal a bit my only remaining jhoto game after my gold and silver died a few years ago.

I gave up for a little while after 6th grade. My dad always teased me about it, but he started to get really condescending about it around that time. It made me feel pretty crappy, so I got rid of all my Pokemon stuff.
Then in high school I was like "screw it, who cares." x]

Yes, and it went a little like this:

Me (8 years old): "I'm a big girl. Big girls don't play pokemon."

    Five minutes later.... "This sucks"

and that was the story of how I gave up pokemon for five minutes!

I had the phase where I started to think it was lame and tried to stray away from it to fit in with the "cool crowd" but then I realized how much I still really enjoyed it and of course went back, but I never gave it up. I still had all my stuff and went to my GBA to play the Hoenn region for the first time a month after it's release.

I quit after the Johto anime saga.. And didn't play a single game. Back at 2006-2007, I returned to play RSE, then discovered the D/P/Pt saga.

My Pokemon addiction fully returned around 2007. XD

When I was about 12 I "grew out" of Pokemon. Then when I was 16 I actually grew up and started playing it again. To quote the Doctor from Doctor Who: "There's no point in growing up if you can't be childish sometimes."

Never actively tried to give up Pokemon, no. I naturally just go through phases of being really interested in it, and then not. Usually when I'm not interested in playing it I'm more interested in playing I dunno, Zelda or something. I go through phases of obsessions for different franchises :P
