    I have an original phat DS - it used to connect to WiFi fine on my old router, but for some reason we got a new router. The old one was fine!

    This router now uses WPA security and as I now know, the old DS models don't support WPA. So for now gone are the days of battling/trading online etc.

    But I then heard about a DS WiFi Adapter that Nintendo has brought out and I have considered getting it, but then I heard that support for it had been discontinued.

    Do I still buy one? Or do you have any other suggestions? Would've made a topic for this but it probably would've been locked or something.

    And if you're going to recommend shops etc, make sure it sells in £'s, I don't have Paypal just yet ^^;

    Someone please reply to this, it's been pestering me for almost a year >.< - Even a VM would be nice!

    Thanks in advance

    What's your router model? How did you set it up exactly?

    That would likely be because of DS Games lack of WPA/WPA2 support. ): All they support is WEP u_u;

    This is true with DS games, but DSi games and applications has WPA support. However, this becomes an issue since WEP is very insecure since it can be cracked within 10 minutes (and there is already programs readily available that can crack WEP). Even some routers like the Airport Extreme hides the WEP security option since of it being insecure and only can be accessed by holding down the option key and clicking the security options.

    The best way of working around this instead of having to use WEP is to hook your computer via ethernet (or hooking another Wireless Adapter for an Ad-hoc connection) and use Internet Sharing on your ethernet (or wireless if you using another wireless adapter) connection and creating a Ad-hoc connection to connect your DS to when you need to connect to Nintendo Wifi or a Nintendo Wifi Adapter. It's not recommended to use WEP because of the insecure nature of it, but even with MAC restrictions, it can still be cracked.

    I get the same. Error 51100. Likely due to my changing my router.

    My 360 works ok. My DS used to connect just fine.
    Maybe its just an issue with Telus...

    It could be the way the games are programmed. Once you get HG or SS, test it out and see if it works. It would then be just DPPt being programmed for only WEP WiFi and not WPA WiFi.

    Also, are you using the Nintendo WiFi Connections Settings option at the game's main menu? 'Cause the Poketch app is useless for wrieless.

    Yes, it will. On the DSi, go to Advanced Settings under the Internet Connection thing, and choose connection 4/5/6. You can then enter a password in where it says.

    I'm not really sure how to do it on the Lite or regular DS [I don't have a lite anymore >>]

    Check your Network settings on your computer. See if you're connected via WPA/WPA2 or WEP.
    If it's WPA/WPA2, you can't connect anyway - it's not compatible with DS games. ._.;

    In order to connect to your wireless network with a password, do the following:

    1. Set your router to WEP
    2. On the main screen of your Pokémon game, select Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
    3. Select Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
    4. Choose a connection that has none on it or erase your old settings
    5. Select Search for an Access Point
    6. Select your network
    7. Enter WEP key
    8. Test Connection
    If every thing is done correctly, you will be able to connect your DS to the internet while security is on.

    Every other game or DSi app works, just not Pokemon games. None of mine or my brothers DS's work on Pokemon.
    This happened after I switched connections. But why only Pokemon? This is driving me nuts please help!

    Please help me connect my DS adn DSi to wifi

    Ok, I have a philips Modem wireless-and it has a WPA code-I know the DS wont connect to this-although my DSi connects just for looking at the internet.
    Two questions-will I be able to trade using my DSİ and GTA via the internet on my DSi?

    Right second question;

    If I were to disable my security, would I be able to switch off my computer (its an external modem) and play off that without anybody being able to get to my information on my computer-although, I know others can then access my internet connection can't they. (not a good idea!)

    If I bought a dongle, such as the one made by nintendo or wifi max for example, would I be able to use this for my Nintendo ds without changing my settings to WEP and keeping the WPA security.

    I am just interested in trading in the future really.

    Thanks so much for your help.
