    I haven't said the pledge in forever, o3o
    I used to have to in Elementary school, but that seemed to stop around 4th-5th grade or so

    When I was in my school we always said the pledge every morning and had a moment of silence right afterward. According to my brother and sister, they still do it. I had no idea they didn't say the pledge in so many schools.

    We had to say the pledge all through middle and high school. Obviously we don't say it at college.
    I stopped saying "Under God" when I was a sophomore/junior, but it felt really weird. I'd kind of stand there like "One nation...>_>...indivisible..."

    ^ That's how I hear people saying it more and more often now. The reason it is in the pledge is because the nation was founded under God. If you don't want to say it that way then that's fine with me, but they shouldn't just stop the pledge in schools... Just in case you were wondering, I didn't go to a Catholic school or anything either, just a normal little public school. The school I went to didn't, and still doesn't, even forbid the expression of religious beliefs within the school in the form or T-shirts or anything either.

    It's something that varies by state so the same rule doesn't pertain to the entire country. I think like half of the states make students recite it, others just include participation, and so on.
    I don't really care either way what schools or other people do about it. I'm so used to saying it at this point that I'd at least stand up when told to.

    We have O Canada that plays, but we don't have to pledge loyalty to our country or anything >_> I think Americans have become too patriotic because saying the pledge everyday for 17 years has instilled "we are the best" in 'em, thus why people think they're arrogant and obnoxious.

    Meh.

    I had to listen to and recite it for 13 years and I totally don't have an "America's the best omg" mentality. There's nothing wrong with living here, but like every other country, we have as many flaws as we do redeeming qualities. Honestly all that the 13 years of listening to the Pledge left me with is knowing that I will never, ever, ever, EVER forget the words any time soon.
