5th Gen New Types?

See, someone stated in that thread that while the tail on Zekrom looks a lot like a turbo-jet engine, the tail of Reshiram looks like an old style tiki torch.

It actually more closely resembles a type of gigantic torch used in Japanese fire festivals. These things are like, 10 ft long.

As for what Cyberglass said, Dark's (Evil) type in Japanese is NOT THE SAME as Evil such as RAWR I'm bad so I destroy things, kill and enslave people.

Actually, it does mean that. It is "aku" type, which literally means evil. I'm not on my computer where I can type and look things up in Japanese, so I can't directly quote the dictionary this time, but I've checked before. If you remember "Akuma" from the Street Fighter series... his name comes from the same root word, and is the Japanese word for "demon."

I really want there to be a light type! That would be so cool!

Of course, this is coming from a kingdom hearts fan who obsesses over Light and Dark issues. When the new legendary pokemon were revealed, I totally expected Zekrom to be dark type and for them to add the light type. (Reshiram.) ...I suppose people could change that when it becomes hackable. Not that anyone would dream of changing the pokemon types. As much as I hope for there to be a light type, I highly doubt they will add it unless they are willing to change the types of other pokemon previously added. Psychic seems to be the opposite, even though it was out before dark was.

My reasoning? First, Umbreon and Espeon came out around the same time. One evolves when its light out and the other when its dark out.

Second: the type matchup. As we all know, darkness can snuff out the light, but it will put up a resistanse and fight back. Dark type attacks are super effective against Psychic, but their attack are sadly, mostly weak and unable to do much damage elsewhere. Most psychic pokemon have good defense as well.

Sorry if i wasn't accurate, but I kinda let Kingdom Hearts take over my thoughts there. But if you think about it, its true.

It's true that a light type would be cool to fight the dark type. but 1. dark pokemon arn't evil and 2.either fighting or psychic sort of take the place of a light type

What I think is funny is people saying if there was a Light type it should be Reshiram which is way wrong as Reshiram is Yang...Which would be Dark...Zekrom would be the Light/Dragon if they made a Light type because he is Yin which is Light...haha Of course they aren't mean't to be apart so I don't know why they aren't one being of Light/Dark...Neither are tech good or evil but mostly its Yin and Yang; Good and Evil...

GF would be alright with changing the Pokemon types...they're revamping everything so I'm guessing types fall under everything...

Most common psychic pokemon have terrible defenses. Alakazam, Azelf, Espeon; the only ones with fair or better defenses are either part Steel (Bronzong, Metagross), legendary (Cresselia, Deoxys - Defense), or Slowbro/king. The rest are pretty not-good. :x

Also, there are very few Psychic-types that can beat out a Dark-type. :(

I wouldn't mind a Light type. It would make sense as there is a Dark type but I don't think any new types will be introduced since they made a huge fuss over Arceus' Plates especially in the twelfth movie.

Because when there were new types in Gen II, they introduced two new ones, not one. I think it would probably be either both or none, now that I think about it.

Gallade can beat a dark type since he is part fighting, and defense doesn't matter with him because his Attack and Sp. Attack are so high he PWNS everyone before they get a chance to attack.

^Thats not his point......Gallade is one psychic among others that have less than stellar defenses. If anything you strengthened his argument by showing how psychic is a generally weak type defensively.

HOWEVER the fact that they are meant to represent yin and yang and still they aren't Dark or Light type does convince me that the new type won't be introduced this Generation, or indeed at all. I can still dream though...

Agreed. Ravecat, we may not see eye to eye on the issue of new types, but it's nice to have someone who does their research. There's a lot of misunderstanding about what Yin and Yang actually means in the west. But now we're getting into a discussion of the Legendaries, which belongs to another thread.

Back on topic: new types, eh? Sounds like a good idea. :)

Did you happen to read the last part of the first post? No? You didn't? Because I said there that they shouldn't be Light/Dark to begin with... I know about YinYang and the story of how they got mixed up as such... I said neither is good or evil they are just one being... When EVERYONE states the fact that one would be Light and the other Dark when thats not how it works it gets quite annoying when its left like that. Being GameFreak has NOTHING to do with determining what Yin and Yang are you idiot... Zekrom being Yin "According to me" is also a stupid move since you know... He IS the Yin Pokemon I know how Yin and Yang work but they would never make Reshiram Light and Zekrom Dark seeing as Reshiram is White and Dark is Black making it one being and Zekrom being Black and Light is White would make it a full being too... WEIRD howd that work?? Plus if we are gonna use EVERY SINGLE VERSION OF YinYang then why not give the Legends there the Male/Female ways Yin and Yang are represented in other cultures... Oh yeah because Legends don't have genders.... You can't do all of them okay so if we stick to the Light and Dark halves of every being it would be Reshiram as a Light and Zekrom as a Dark
