Being a vegetarian just makes you a better person than everybody else.
You keep telling yourself that.
So how could we survive without being, in your view, "monsters"? As far as I know, it is not nutritionally feasible to live on food which does not require killing, nor is it natural. We're a crazy bunch. We say no to eating animals, but we gladly kill trees, plants for our own selfish purposes. We're monsters.
That's how I feel about it. A meat-eater isn't loosing out on anything by not having meat for one meal unless they're on some kind of special diet that requires meat with every meal. So in that sense it's just like having a simple food preference and when someone else is making food for you, as long as it's not against some belief you hold, you eat it graciously like a guest should whether it's what you'd prefer or not. I mean, if someone invited me over for dinner I wouldn't say "Okay, but I won't come unless you serve rice pilaf because that's my favorite."This was promptly shut down by a vegetarian who told him that his choice to eat meat in every meal wasn't as important as her choice not to eat meat in every meal. :x
