The only thing I'm worried about is running out of overworld sprites, since most will only be used once. Unless we use the custom sprites as "rematch" battles on routes, i guess you could say, then we are gonna have a problem.

Maybe you could reuse gym leader sprites, but just recolour them and use them several times? Idk.

Hoity Toity and Photo Finish: Mr. Mime, Sudowoodo, Dodrio and Victreebel
Wonderbolts: Fearow, Pidegot, Aerodactyl and Charizard
Nightmare Moon: Sneasel, Muk, Gengar, Golbat, Misdreavus.

The teams are roughly based off their personalities (most notably Nightmare Moon). You're free to edit this team, because I feel it could be done differently.

I'd like to help too, but I've not done Pokemon hacks before and I'm afraid I don't have the time to learn. I'm also leaving the country for a week-and-a-half come Friday. So I figure conceptualizing is all I can do. :<

How different will this be from FireRed? Will the plot need to follow the same order of events as the original, or are we going all-new areas and such as well? It would be amusing to insert a setting from the show or the fanon.

What's the problem with overworld sprites here? For most trainers and/or townsfolk, why not use generic ponies like they have copypasted in the crowds? Have specific characters inserted, sure- it'll be fun. But having a standard pony for each kind of person would be good too. Unless I missed the entire point here.

Well, originally i was gonna follow the plot of FireRed, but have Ponyville, Manehatten, Fillydelphia, Cloudsdale, etc, as cities, but i don't really know right now. I guess it'll be a little of both~

I was gonna reuse sprites for the trainers, but I will be having so many custom ones that I fear we won't have that many to use for the generic ponies if that makes sense ;-;

So you're going to use so many unique ones the generic ones won't be seen much, and it may end up looking more like "hey, why did they use that one twice"? If I got that straight, it'll just have to be a self-control thing. Be sparing with your special ponies, or be willing to invent more.

As for the sprites, you could have one work on the main ponies, the other work on side ponies. Whats the difference between "team planner," and "Writers?"

I was thinking Team Planner would be... the Team Planner. xD;
Planning teams for various Gym Leaders, Pony 4, regular trainers, etc.
Writers work on the plot.
Oh, and I found out the the completion date of Season 2 might be in December, but not the airing date. We will probably be getting it earlier. I heard somewhere that it might air in Fall, so yeah. Nothing much to worry about. :D
