As many of you know Legendary pokemon are revered pokemon for their history(legends) and their mighty power. As we have seen in the anime though Trainers are seen using these Legends either captured or befriended(i.e. Noland with Articuno) so this relationship between Trainers and Legends raises a few questions.

    - Do you think at any point in the anime(movies not withstanding) that a member of the Main Cast or a rival with come to own or befriend a Legendary pokemon?

    - Do you think it is fair for Ash or anyone else to have to go up against Legendary or Legendaries.

    - If Ash or anyone else Main Cast, Rival, Reoccurring character in fact did catch or befriended a Legendary pokemon which one would you like to see them with and why?

Max had already befriended a Deoxys. https://serebii.net/anime/characters/max.shtml. In the present series however, Ash had already befriended and had close connections withs everal legendaries (Ho-oh, Latias etc.) And I think it is still highly possible that Ash would forge a strong link with other legendary *cough*Victini*cough*.

    - Do you think it is fair for Ash or anyone else to have to go up against Legendary or Legendaries.

Hey why not? Ash had done it several times, and it's a great battle always. Much like Noland's Articuno, the dream Entei, etc.

    - If Ash or anyone else Main Cast, Rival, Reoccurring character in fact did catch or befriended a Legendary pokemon which one would you like to see them with and why?

I would like them of course to befriend a legendary. Ash is a great candidate. But I would like none of them to possess a legendary. That would totally break the anime. and it would make them so overpowerful like Tobias with his darkrai and latios.

If befriend as in the context of Ash becoming friends with Suicune, etc then yea sure. If befriend as in the context of Noland using an Articuno in battle then I hope not.

From the beginning I always thought that idea was bull**** except for the battle against Brenden, so no. Especially with in the battle with Tobias. I understand Ash needed to loose, but not 1 but 2 legendary Pokemon!?!

None really. Always hated the idea of a trainer using legendary Pokemon, except for in the games.

There are few reasons why Ash & Co. won't have legendaries. (First:) Movies (starting from the second already) has shown it's no good to capture these, at least not against their will. Ash befriended a lot of, and even one in the Anime! It was this Lugia with mother, either last Misty season or a May season.

And no, I don't like it at all. (Second:) We saw how Tobias kicked everyones butt because his legendaries are overpowered, as they are used to be. In the games, it's not that different, a lot of things will go easier.

    - Do you think at any point in the anime(movies not withstanding) that a member of the Main Cast or a rival with come to own or befriend a Legendary pokemon?: I don't see anyone catching any legendary Pokemon, but as said before, several characters befriended legendary Pokemon, like Max befriending Jirachi and Deoxys and May befriending Manaphy.

    - Do you think it is fair for Ash or anyone else to have to go up against Legendary or Legendaries?: I see it as more of a challenge for Ash. He had a hard time against Pokemon like Regice and Darkrai, but he still managed to defeat them.

    - If Ash or anyone else Main Cast, Rival, Reoccurring character in fact did catch or befriended a Legendary pokemon which one would you like to see them with and why?: I think I could see Ash befriending the musketeer trio somehow because he could convince them that humans aren't really that bad towards other Pokemon.

Tobias has legendaries and I hate that. Ash only lost to Tobias because he was OP with his legendaries. Off course legendaries belongs to anime but I don't like that character befriend with legendary Pokémon.

My problem with this sort of thing is it's like the anime just magically pops out a legendary Pokémon whenever they like. I've always thought of them to be rare, but the way the anime interprets them, a good enough trainer can own one, even a Nurse Joy. You could say that these trainers do seem to have skill, but I'm still against them owning these Pokémon, at least leave it at one really cool trainer, Tobias if you like. We've multiple of the same legendaries throughout the series, which does also raise a question on their rarity, but still - Ash is supposedly special, seeing as he meets a new legendary every movie, and maybe a special in the anime from time to time.

I much rather like it when the trainer in person with the legendary hasn't captured it, but befriended it. I think this works perfectly in showing how strong the legendary is, but also respected and not captured or perhaps, not able to be captured if you like, it also works in showing how skilled the trainer is seeing as they've befriended this Pokémon, a perfect example of this is obviously Noland.

As for a main cast member with a legendary... I suppose I would mind. Like mentioned above, it goes against how rare the Pokémon in question is. I'd much rather they'd have kept to befriending it. An example would be Manaphy and May. I suppose the Pokémon in question could still travel with this person in question idk.

and also, by capuring a legendary, whoever catches that would be messing around with the balance of the Pokemon world. Yes, befriend they should, but not catch.

Oh no one should own a legendary. They're pretty exclusive to begin so seeing them, much less catching them, is an extremely rare occasion. I wouldn't mind if someone befriended a legendary Pokemon. That's understandable. One think that pretty much baffled me was in the Lily of the Valley Conference (Sinnoh League Tournament) there was a trainer there with a Heatran at the registration booth. The anime makes legendaries not so exclusive. Nurse Joy had a Latias of all things. Tobias probably has more than the ones shown.

People have gone up against legendaries. I think it's unfair for people to claim you can't fight a legendary since they're oh so powerful, since they're also Pokemon. I mean Ash has defeated a few legendaries so of course it's fair to fight a legendary Pokemon.

If anyone in the entire anime owned a legendary Pokemon (recurring characters anyway...) I'd probably want Professor Oak to own one. He's pretty darn responsible and wouldn't abuse it. Instead, he'd probably research it but that's all I can imagine really. There's the threat of it being stolen, but with all the Pokemon at the Oak Ranch, I think it's well protected.

It kills the legendary status imo if a random trainer can own it or use it in battle, or if it can be KO'd by trainers (like Team Rocket did to Zapdos once if I recall) ..

Also the befriending ... nah, don't like it. If it's a legendary, it's supposed to be almost unreachable/unfindable imo

If you're talking about whether it was OK for the writers to make Ash lose to Tobias because of his legendaries, it wasn't. The Pokemon league should have had the same rules as the Battle Frontier in the games, ubers like Mewtwo etc are banned because it doesn't give a fair chance at all. I don't know if they thought that it would be more exciting for him to lose to those legendaries, or if they couldn't give him a more credible loss, but either way, it irritated me so much. I still think that Ash put up a very good fight, though.

Reputation of "legendaries" have already been tarnished many times IMO. Seeing them with normal-looking trainers, and "normal" people controlling them however they want (especially in the movies)... I feel disgusted whenever those types of things happen. (which isn't rare)

    - Do you think at any point in the anime(movies not withstanding) that a member of the Main Cast or a rival with come to own or befriend a Legendary pokemon? Remember Tabios? And his Darkrai and Latios?

    - Do you think it is fair for Ash or anyone else to have to go up against Legendary or Legendaries. Like I said, remember Tobias? He just murdered every single Gym Leader in Sinnoh and went straight to the Sinnoh League to murder Ash and his Pikachu. How do you call that fair? But actually, that's how I won the Hoenn League in Pokemon Sapphire. I just used Rayquaza and Kyogre to crush the E4 nonstop. Oh and hey, Ash's Pikachu is kind of legendary! He can destroy Ground-types using Thunderbolt! And he can learn Volt Tackle merely by using Thunderbolt and Quick Attack at the same time... So yeah, I guess it's fair enough xP

    - If Ash or anyone else Main Cast, Rival, Reoccurring character in fact did catch or befriended a Legendary pokemon which one would you like to see them with and why? I'm sure I'd like to see Paul catch a Legendary Pokemon like Mewtwo. That would be awesome. Then some point in Unova, he bumps into Ash, sees how weak his Pokemon are, and challenges him to a battle, beats him, calls in pathetic, then says, "I'm gone already." :D

I assume when you mentioned Victini you were alluding to the movie were he did in fact befriend Victini.

And with Noland and Dream Entei those were just one. If it was a team I would have an issue with that.

My context was befriend it like Noland, where he can call upon it every now in then like he does with Charizard from Charific Valley. I do believe though that it is nice for them to maintain bonds like with (Ho-oh, Suicune, etc). It was also nice when the pixies formed a sort of bond with the characters in Sinnoh to an extent.

Yeah Brendan was done in moderation. Tobias was like "Oh you beat my Darkrai, well say hi to my Latios!!!"

He managed to defeat them, but with Darkrai at the cost of most of his team with Sceptile, Swellow, and Pikachu withstanding. And Sceptile barely even defeated Darkrai at that.

And I thought of that as well. Ash can show how strong the ties are with him and his pokemon and prove to the Musketeers that not all trainers and humans have bad intentions.

My problem with this sort of thing is it's like the anime just magically pops out a legendary Pokémon whenever they like. I've always thought of them to be rare, but the way the anime interprets them, a good enough trainer can own one, even a Nurse Joy. For me yes it would take skill to capture depending on the condition it was in. Like say if Silver wanted to catch Moltres we could tell he had quite the skill with his Salamence so we know he would be will within the skill factor of getting a legendary legit. So in that instance I can see how owning and using a legendary would be okay, but still it diminishes the battle against the opponents. Somebody will skill would want a challenge, so what challenge would it be if you used a legendary?

That's how I feel, if the trainer and the legendary can work in harmony while not being captured and declaring ownership over it would be the perfect balance for it. Articuno respects Noland as Noland inversely does with Articuno so it's a mutual respect between pokemon and human.

Oh no one should own a legendary. They're pretty exclusive to begin so seeing them, much less catching them, is an extremely rare occasion. I wouldn't mind if someone befriended a legendary Pokemon. That's understandable. I am not to keen either on how the appearances seem to devalue the feel of what it is to be legendary. I mean really the normal guy with a Heatran? What is that I don't even. This sometimes for me skews the line between what is legend and what is not.

The Zapdos in EP242 was weakened, so it wasn't that powerful at the time. And it already sent team rocket blasting off.

I absolutely don't feel it is alright for that to happen the way it did. I think it was an easy way to write Ash off and have him lose the league. Oh yeah Ash lost to legends end of story... I'd just like to see how he would have held up against Tobias if he didn't roll will the legendaries. I wish the pokemon league would do that, but I don't think we will ever see that.

    - Do you think at any point in the anime(movies not withstanding) that a member of the Main Cast or a rival with come to own or befriend a Legendary pokemon? Remember Tabios? And his Darkrai and Latios?

I never really considered Tobias a Rival though. He was just a league participant that ended Ash run. They never really had much interaction that would lead me to believe they have some sort of rivalry.

Pikachu is way to inconsistent for me to even consider him Legendary status. He lost to Gary Eevee after he beat Drake Dragonite, tied with Paul Elekid after beating Regice, lost to Trip Snivy and Cress Panpour after tieing Latios. Although with Snivy Pikachu was weakened still none the less should have came out as the victor. Typing isn't always the end all be all either. Panpour was a water type after all.

    - Do you think at any point in the anime(movies not withstanding) that a member of the Main Cast or a rival with come to own or befriend a Legendary pokemon?
My meaning would be in terms of battle usuage. So I could see this, like a Charizard situation, but that would detract from the usage of the other pokemon he already has. As for Rival maybe Paul or Gary(seeing as Gary is a researcher, he may some how come into contact with several legends while in the process of research on them, if he did do research on them that is). Now will the characters come into contact with legendaries reoccurring yes, since we have already seen that with the pixies(especially with Dawn and Mespirit) and other instances.

    - Do you think it is fair for Ash or anyone else to have to go up against Legendary or Legendaries.
Not if the opposing persons team is packed with them. He barely took out two of Tobias pokemon at the cost of his whole team. If there was an equal playing field like Ash had a few then I could see that, or Tobias didn't have one as beastly as Darkrai who ran through the whole Conference without being defeated besides Ash. If that's not over powered and unfair to not only Ash but the entire Conference then I don't know what is.

    - If Ash or anyone else Main Cast, Rival, Reoccurring character in fact did catch or befriended a Legendary pokemon which one would you like to see them with and why?
I'd have to say Ash with Ho-oh at some point in time. He saw Ho-oh on the first day of the journey then a few times after. Too me he has some sort of bond with Ho-oh for sure. His name is Ash and Ho-Oh is partly based off of a Phoenix who raises from the Ashes when reborn. And also in the game Ho-Oh hold item is Sacred Ash.

Tobias is a cheater! How could Mister Goodshow allow a adult man with 2 legionaries in the same tournament with 10-year-old children. How is this fair. Garchomp is banned in OU, but Tobias has Darkrai AND Latios!!!

Totally out of place for him to have legends, he should be in the champion league, not the regular league that children compete in.

    - Do you think at any point in the anime(movies not withstanding) that a member of the Main Cast or a rival with come to own or befriend a Legendary pokemon? Ash would most likely either befriend Reshiram or Zekrom in the Best Wishes Anime but I don't think he would use them during a battle.

    - Do you think it is fair for Ash or anyone else to have to go up against Legendary or Legendaries.

Definalty not in a tornament or in a Pokemon battle. I personally think trainers having legendary Pokemon is kind of cheap. Seeing what happened to Ash when he was fighting Tobias, I personally think he would have won the tournament if Tobias didn't use his legendary Pokemon. that is for a different topic however, if Ash did befriend a legendary, I don't think he would use it in a battle. He might feel it wouldn't show how strong he is by just cheating.

    - If Ash or anyone else Main Cast, Rival, Reoccurring character in fact did catch or befriended a Legendary pokemon which one would you like to see them with and why?

I could see them using the Pokemon when they are fighting other legendary pokemon or if they really need to use it.

Oh, by the way, is Nurse Joy considered a main character?
Because just so you know, the one from the Inspection Agency has a Latias which she used to test Forrest's skills as a Pokemon trainer in order for him to pass and become Pewter City's Gym Leader. Latias went up against Forrest's Rhyperior and defeated Rhyperior. Who would use a legendary Pokemon to test a gym leader?

    Just letting you know ;)

Nurse Joy is a reoccurring character, and we almost never see the same, although I think we may have seen the one in Viridian twice. So no I wouldn't include her as Main, what I include are the traveling cast i.e. Ash, Misty, Brock, May, Max, Dawn, Cilan, Iris, and Tracy(for a brief time).

And yes I saw the DP Special right when it came out. Joy also seemed to be testing the overall condition of the gym like the methods used, the condition of the building, and of course the skill level of the leader. Apparently Inspector Joy does xD.

But it wouldn't be necessary to use an uber-powerful Latias would it?

Well come to think about it, Gary has an Arcanine, whose species is identified by the Pokedex as 'Legendary Pokemon.'

But yeah I totally agree with SnowPointQuincy here...
