3rd Gen Does ANYBODY still play their GBA games more than the newer games (NDS)?

I personally still do; my 5...sth year old blue Game Boy Advanced still works for me ^^ But my main problem is that my DS is broken (my Metagross, Salamence, etc are all stuck in my SS and will never see the light again -_-)

So......Is there anybody like me who prefer (or don't have any choice but to) playing the older GBA games (like, just for the Nostalgia, replay challenges, or anything else)?

I've played all of the Pokemon games and I hated anything past GEN III.. I admit the graphics were way better than any other (handheld) Pokemon game by far but the game play was terrible. Seeing as though I liked GEN I just because it was nostalgic and then Fire Red and Leaf Green came it gave me a new way to play. And to me - GEN III brought the most to Pokemon - Party Sprites, Colour you could actually see and Legendaries (to me) that actually seemed like legendary creatures - in the legend form as in myth and strength. If there was one thing that the GBA gen lacked was access to Johto - if that was there then it would be the most popular generation of Pokemon ever. That's why I think people like GEN II because you can actually get all the Pokemon but it is impossible in GEN III.. So basically - Yes I do play my GBA games more than the new ones and I have listed reasons above why :)

Emerald is my favorite, and I love playing RSE for challenges or just for the sake of playing them, but I do like games newer and older than it. So, if you do the math, I probably do play RSE more than anything else. lol I know I enjoy them more than anything else... :P

I don't play it more than the newer versions but I play them often. I'm about to purchase emerald as we speak because I don't have that gen. It's the only one I'm missing so I definitely have to catch up! :D I think the reason I don't play those gens as often as the newer one would be graphics. I love technology and what can I say graphics appeal to me. If I had to go based off of gameplay though, it would probably be the same for all gens.

Generation III is personally my least favorite generation. They took out time of day, calendars, and reduced the game to 1 region instead of 2 after Generation II. I still do an Emerald or FireRed run through here and there, but as soon as I'm done with the Elite Four and whatever else I wast to do I move on to my DS games again, because Soul Silver and Platinum are so amazing.

I have a DS Lite so I am able to use the GBA slot but I use my 3DS more for the likes of Black, White, Smash etc. I don't really play them on handheld, Emulators yes but that's one of the reasons why I'd like remakes of said games to get me back into them.

Actually you can obtain all gen II Pokémon except for Celebi! :)

Also, I don't even own a DS. Everyone I know tries to get me to play the new games but I refuse to even pick one up. The Pokémon look stupid and I've heard not so good things abot them. Plus they're getting awful at naming games. "Black 2 & White 2" REALLY? How creative...I still play my Pokémon Yellow and stuff of course but I think I prefer to play gen III because it's more "fixed up" :)

I still don't own a DS and the new Pokèmon games never appealed to me.
Only thing I would buy a DS for are the HG/SS remakes.
I still keep playing Emerald and FireRed.
I'm eagerly wating for a final release of the Liquid Crystal or Shiny Gold Hack!

Leaf Green. I haven't started over in my DS games in forever, but a couple months ago I did a complete Let's Play of Leaf Green and I'm still raising my team in there to level 100.

Do you still like 3rd Gen games?

Hey there, today, my question is: 'Do you still like 3rd Gen games?'. Well, I do. My fav is Emerald. Even though the newer generations are fun, I still think Emerald is the best. It has a lot of gimmicks & extras the newer ones don't have. The best part for me is the Battle Frontier. Oh, how I love that place. It's very exiting. So, that's why I still love Emerald. I'm looking forward to a DS remake, WITHOUT the newer gen Pokemon.

My favorite generation is 3rd gen. I grew up playing 3rd gen games so there's something. Besides it having my favorite game, Emerald, it also introduced my favorite spin-off, PMD. In terms of music, PMD far outclassed Emerald. So did Colosseum, but that's my opinion.

3rd gen......Yeah, for me it was probably the most revolutionary moment in my Pokemon history. I mean, really, from Crystal to Sapphire! There were major changes in sprites, texture, maps, storyline, everything was awesome.

And also......my DS doesn't work now, so I only have me blue GB SP left! ^^

I can play Fire Red & Leaf Green for weeks on end without growing bored in the slightest, RSE are okay too but it's the remakes if anything that get me hooked in a heartbeat so yeah I like the 3rd gen quite a lot because of its addictive simplicity in general.

Hell yeah. I must have racked up the most playing time of any of my Pokemon games in PKMN Ruby (excluding Silver), and I still have an old save file started somewhere around 2004. Haven't touched it in quite some time though.

Leaf Green only. That's seriously tied for my favorite Pokemon game (it wins out over Fire Red because of better exclusive pokemon). The Hoenn games... not so much, I don't think the region stood the test of time, and that's something not even any remakes can fix IMO. Even when new I didn't care for Hoenn's weird towns or the copious amounts of water, and those problems just became more glaring with time.

But I could play through Leaf Green again and again and never get tired of it xD
