it's someone on the site. I should of known better cause it was a new account. but he said this mon has these ivs and I traded. I checked with the judge and nope. It's not what he said it is. I've messaged him. He stopped replying right away after we traded.

Well that's saddening. A stranger on the GTS is one thing, but for someone to approach you here and outright lie... I would suggest reporting him to a moderator. Or at least let us know who it was so we know to avoid him.

His name is Meketek93. And I will report to a mod asap. I just didn't know what to do.

Illuminate has nothing to do with increasing shiny chances. It just increases the likelihood you'll run into a Pokemon in the field.

    Anyway:
-Poke Radar (received from Prof. Sycamore's assistant post-National Dex)
-Chain fishing (done with any Fishing Rod, but the encounters have to be consecutive to increase the odds)
-Shiny Charm (received from Prof. Sycamore after completing National Dex)
-Masuda Method (breeding 2 different-language parents increases the odds of you getting a shiny)

I'm pretty sure there's no abilities that increase the chances of finding shiny Pokemon. Platinum told you all the things that do increase your chances of finding a shiny.

How do you know if the pokemon traded to you has perfect IVs?

In the Pokémon Center of Kiloude City, there should be a person with white skin and purple hair. This guy is known as the "IV Judge." If you talk to him, he will take a look into the first member of your party and tell you what its IVs are. :)

Both Charizard mega forms are good. I personally prefer MegaZard Y, because it has an immunity to ground, and I just like the raw power it has in the sun. Flamethrower+Modest+252 Sp.Attack EVs+STAB+sun= incinerated enemies all day long.

Gastrodon makes for a good partner for MegaZard Y, since it covers it weaknesses to Water, Electric, and Rock, while MegaZard Y covers Gastrodon's Grass weakness since it has a 4x resist to Grass.

Skarmory makes a good partner for MegaZard X. MegaZard X covers Skarm's Electric and Fire weaknesses, and Skarm covers MegaZard X's Fairy and Ground weaknesses in return.

Thanks !!! I put Garchomp, Starmie, Greninja, Aegislash for my Zard Y team, though I still need one pokemon to hold choice scarf.

For the Zard X team, skarmory is the only choice for now.

Q: how is budew evolved? Does it require affection?

Nope, get him/her close to max happiness/friendship (220), and level them up during daytime. And in case you wanted to know, the Happiness/friendship Checker is a girl in Lavarre city's Pokemon Fan Club.

When you're around 220 she should read:
"You must really like your <Pokémon> and always keep it by your side!"

When you're at max or near max she should read:
"It's amazingly friendly toward you! It must be so happy spending every day with you!"

Say, I've heard that there are Pokémon that are found in trash cans in certain areas, such as the Lost Hotel. However, I've thoroughly searched the cans without even so much as a peep from them. Is there a trick to getting Pokémon out of trash cans? Or is there a huge cloud of bad luck looming over my head?

You can indeed find Pokémon in the trash cans at the Lost Hotel and.Pokemon Village. I guess you always find Garbodor, on Tuesdays Rotom and on Thursdays Banette.

Well, it's not that. It's just that I'm not finding anything inside the garbage cans - they're not even budging a lot of the time, so is there anything else that I'm not aware of that I should know, or am I unlucky with them?

    New player needs help!

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum as you can see and I don't know how things work around here. So I apologize in advance if I'm posting in the wrong sub-forum or asking some pretty over-asked/noob questions. I haven't bought a Pokemon game since gen 3 but decided to get back into it seeing as the reviews are pretty good and some friends of mine have Pokemon X and Y.

First off, I decided I wanted to try and get into the competitive side of the game. I raised a team and thought everything was perfect. Then I read on this forum about EV/IV training. I had no clue what it was at the time and thought it wouldn't be that complicated. Now that I have a grasp on what it is, I realized it's not so easy for a beginner like me. I don't want to spend all my time battling hordes or playing that tedious super-training mini-game. I read up on "Pokerus" and saw how much easier it made things. How do I acquire such a thing? Can I get it myself or do I have to trade with someone to get it? No one I know has it, but then again they don't know much about the competitive aspect of the game.

Lastly, I need to know how to make an overall good team. Pretty simple question. Again, redirect me if these questions have already been answered. Thanks.

You'd have to trade to get it, but since it spreads, it's fairly easy to try to get someone to spread it to you.

Making a good team... that's a very sweeping question. One thing I can tell you, though, is try to make your team as balanced as you can. (i.e. no one Pokemon can single-handedly sweep your entire team)
