I imagine they will, considering it's the same generation. Pokemon models in battle will most likely be reused with small edits. Maybe flying pokemon will get standing models if sky battles don't appear. Tropius and Skarmory desperately need to put their feet on the ground.

I don't know but I do get your point there. The one thing I really want to see is the return of Contests and maybe they'll actually be better than the originals (I hated how you could potentially lose points).

First off, really excited for the remake.

I was thinking, it'd be epic if this was both a remake and sequel in one. D: Sort of like Kingdom Hearts CoM, except after beating the game you got to play the sequel as Steven Stone. :D Anyways, impossible theories aside, I can't wait to play this.

I was actually expecting another Kalos game first before Hoenn games. And I really hope that after this Game Freak slows the ♥♥♥♥ down with the game releases. I like Pokemon very much, but I don't need a release every single year (which they've been doing since Platinum in 2009). I'd rather that they take their time making these things so we don't have something similar to a CoD/Madden situation. It's also a bit of a money issue; I don't have tons of money lying around, and when November rolls around I might be considering other things like rent, food, bills, taxes, etc. I have the patience to wait a few years between Pokemon releases.

Realistically speaking, they're probably going to keep releasing a game every year. They've been able to maintain that rhythm for quite some time now, and it seems to be working for them. If you think about it, things haven't really changed since Gen 3. R/S were released in 2003, with FRLG in 2004, with Emerald in followed by D/P in 2006/7. The gap between Emerald and D/P in western territories was relatively quite large, but it was still just over a year. They've been going at it like this for a long time now.

With the better sounds they can produce, I really hope Slateport City's music has vocals (similar to Hiroko Takano's in the OST).

Just thinking about the visuals and sounds, Hoenn can return to being the most beautiful, tropical region!

In the video it says "Game in 2D". I presume they're avoiding 3D because they have the 2DS now and they want to push that to everyone - or maybe Game Freak just didn't like it as much. Who knows?

I personally think with there already being Megas for Lati@s, that there likely won't be Groudon and Kyogre megas, as that would be a lot of Legendary megas to have.

R/S/E are my favorite and the only ones I can replay.

It did NOT need a remake. Considering this is also coming out this early it makes me think this is nothing more than a cheap cash grab.

Like hell I'd visit my region with a half-assed development in sub 30 fps.

Ruby and Sapphire were released over 10 years ago. The gaming industry (especially Nintendo) re-releases games all the time. Of course it's a cash grab, but I don't think it's a cheap one at all.

R/S/E are perfectly playable in this state, and are the most polished in the series. Aside from some updated movesets and the physical/special split, it is modern enough.

Also X/Y had a terrible performance, one of the things I liked about R/S/E was how perfect it played. No down times or frame drops or anything.

I'm tempted to agree with you that this is little more than Game Freak riding the hype train (which you can see by the reaction of some of the people here and elsewhere almost literally ♥♥♥♥ting themselves in excitement over R/S remakes)...but I think its still too early to tell. All that video told us is that they are making Hoenn games and that they're coming out worldwide in November. I want a little gameplay footage and info on the story and features before making a judgement.

Eh, probably not. And its better that way. 3D was a fad that died as the 3DS came into being. It's not really that great, and I'd prefer it if they didn't include the 3D slider function in these games.

Think of it like this. Between now and the time that R/S were originally released a bunch of 10 year-olds have been born. None of them are old enough to know what a GBA is and can't be bothered to buy a really old system just to play an old Pokémon game. There are literally millions of Pokémon fans who have not had a chance to play this. The argument that they're still "perfectly playable" is just asinine; that shouldn't stop a company from refreshing content if they feel like it.

I'll agree that the Gen VI engine is absolute crap on the 3DS, and it plays like crap. Which is why I'll be slightly disappointed if they decide to use the exact same engine they used for X/Y. Common sense would suggest that they'd at least attempt to optimise it between X/Y's release and this November, though.

I don't think they will exclude Mega Evolution in the new games, as that is quite the biggest thing of Generation 6.

I know what your saying, im just thinking about how they will write it into the story, mega evos was the 'gimmick' (for lack of a better word) of gen 6 and the storyline says how its a new thing just discovered in Kalos which is why I said it must be set sometime after gen 6 for there to be mega evo

I saw someone call this a cash grab, but HGSS was not a cash grab and this game was likely in development at the same time as XY by the team that made HGSS and BW2 since that's how Game Freak operates now.
