I hope they're wearable outside of contests, especially if you get more outfits from Lucia & those are the only outfits you'll get ;o; ...Though, even if Trainer Customization does return, I'd still like to wear them outside XD

...Also, despite having looked at that picture for some time when the leaks were first shown, I just realized the male protag. is dressed like Pika Rock Star and the fem. protag. like Pika Pop Idol. That may just mean they will get more outfits, probably ones like what the Pikas have. Also, looking at it even more, the image sort of reminds me of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, but that's just me :V

Yeah, it sort of does look like something from Arc-V, what with all the hearts and lights...

I noticed that all the Pikachu's are still female. Wonder if the Pikachu is a special Pikachu given to us by someone, like Lucia (I love her name btw).
Perhaps Male Beauty and Cute Pikachu (if it exists) will have clothing similar to what they may give Beautiful and Brendan. Also I would like it if Cool May had some make up on :3

The new "contest outfits" is giving me a little hope in the return of character customization, mainly because Brendan has, up until this point, appeared slightly tan--nothing major, but still noticeably different from May. But in these images, his skin is much lighter. It really looks like May and Brendan have the exact same skin tone in the artworks, so it seems unlikely that it's just a quality issue due to it being a photograph.

Brendan still looks a little darker skinned than May does. I do hope customization will return. Of course, they may just limit it Skin color (and Eye color, and maybe hair color).

Well at least you can change outfits, but only for contests like in D/P/Pt. May's contest dress makes her look like an Idolmaster, and Brendan's makes him look like a rock star.

It'd be funny if the Ph.D outfits for the protags. include the goofy glasses; it'd also be the first instance in where the protags. would have glasses. (I forgot if they were an option for PR videos in XY; I don't recall them existing, but I could be wrong.)

Going off the current topic for a moment, but speaking of eyewear, I wonder if the Go-Goggles will be visible on the protags.' faces when they go into the desert area. It'd be neat if that was included~

I think that one of the protagonists in B2W2 wore glasses during one of the movies at Poke studios.

I hope that they wear the eye wear too.

Is there any sort of "confirmation" that these outfits are only restricted to pikachu?

? This is the main character customization thread. I'll be happy to answer though, there is no 100 percent confirmation on their outfits, but it's looking like that'll be the case.

I am hoping the main characters will be able to wear their own counterparts of the costumes outside of contest.

Oops, my bad. I thought it was a costume thread in general (rarely been in this category).

Hopefully so, and I hope contest halls can act like XY boutiques. Players can purchase their outfits/accessories inside and get dressed.

I would like this a lot, especially if they're available outside of contests ;; I've seen people starting to doubt that customization will return outside of contests (much like in DPPt/HGSS (with the Pokeathlon)), but something like this seems plausible. Of course, it's also possible the outfits/accessories may only be used in contests, which I wouldn't mind too much, haha.

Even if we only have six outfits to choose from to use on our journey's I wouldn't mind. I would very must like it to win the league with the Rock Star costume :)

It really does seem like customization is deconfirmed at this point, since your character gets their own 2D introduction artwork during the Contests (as opposed to a 3D one, which would change depending on how you've customized your character's skin tone, etc. A 2D one would have to be a separate artwork for each customizable aspect).

    Spoiler:

I'm not going to lie, I'm quite disappointed by this. Customization could have really shone in the Contests and even in the Super Secret Bases where you could have your friends join you and your custom "Gym." It makes me wonder what other gen 6 features won't be included (such as PSS, day-night cycles in the overworld--even Amie has only been shown with Pikachu). Hopefully Trainers will at least be given more than one outfit to match the Contest they're entering.

I do hope I'm wrong--I really hope I'm wrong--but sadly customization is looking more and more unlikely with each update.

I was secretly hoping that customizable outfits didn't come back, so both XY and ORAS have unique features to offer and encourage the consumers to buy both and not one of them. Other than that, is anyone bothered by Brendan and May's new names?

I'd honestly rather have all games with as much content as possible, so they don't feel half-baked. Even if both were to have similar features, such as customization, they should be good enough on their own to encourage people to buy them. If ORAS were to lack significant features from XY, it might actually deter people from buying them, as opposed to encourage them. And if one were to argue, "They're Hoenn remakes, people would buy them anyways," that's all the more reason to include as much content as possible in the games--so they're as extensive and impressive as possible.

And I'm sure those names are just examples. I'm sure the NPCs will retain their original names.

You can't expect every new Pokémon title to have the exact same features, otherwise the franchise will be panned by fans and compare it to CoD. It's important that each title has some unique features exclusive to those titles. HG/SS, for example, is the only games to have a Pokelathalon, and B2/W2 has Pokestar Studios.

That's true, but those are features that could easily be one-time things. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would want Trainer customization to become a staple of the franchise from here on out. Some features are added and maintained, and I hope customization is one of those things. I'd be highly disappointed if Kalos games were the only ones to have it.

Well one could argue that Brendan and May are too iconic to be given customizable outfits, which is why the feature was changed to only contest outfits.

Well one could argue that Brendan and May are too iconic to be given customizable outfits, which is why the feature was changed to only contest outfits.

That's a difficult one to use, though, because the iconic bandana and skirt-and-leggings combo was completely changed on May. Brendan's "is that his hair or a hat?" is no longer in question, and I'd say that was the most iconic thing about his design (along with his pants-pants, but those are gone, too). So it's clear the character designers at Game Freak are willing to change aspects of their "iconic" designs for the sake of keeping the game modern.

I just think that being able to customize your outfits to go along with whatever Contest you were entering would have been more fun than getting a super-cutesy outfit as a girl which wouldn't match a Tough Contest, or a super-cool outfit as a boy which wouldn't match a Cute Contest; it would have also been fun to dress up in theme with your Super Secret Base.
