  • Why does it feel like Japan is trying to one-up on everyone when it comes to pokemon distribution? every time I hear news of other countries having an event, I also hear Japan at the same time having three more events which are leagues better and completely exclusive to their region.

It's pretty normal for Japan to get the most events since a) that's where Game Freak and Nintendo's headquarters are and b) Japan is easily the largest and most enthusiastic portion of the Pokemon fanbase. So they like to cater to them.

But I have to agree that it can be a little annoying sometimes, especially when one of X/Y's big things was the whole international, everyone gets the same experience at the same time thing, and yet most of the events so far have been restricted to certain countries (or even certain parts of certain countries) and the vast majority have not been WiFi events.

It would be nice if the Shiny Jirachi would be worldwide. I mean, everyone has been clamouring to get that for so long. It's almost like they see the rest of the world as unneeded at this point.

Or they just knew we'd obtain and clone them anyway. Of course, the only reason we obtain and clone them anyway is because THEY DON'T GIVE THEM TO US ANYWAY.

Same with the Surfing Pikachu on August 9. I want that. But I'll have to accept a Japanese clone.

Maybe GF is planning on having a full blown Jiranchi event next year for ORAS (maybe even in game :3). Maybe with Jiranchite too...I can dream...

Darn, I wish they had the stone given out by wi-fi and the Pokemon at Gamestop...I usually don't get the Gamestop events...guess I have to continue looking for someone to trade me Pinsirite (Charzardite X, Mewtwoite X, Manectite, and Tyranitite) :(

You really think people would get int he car and drive to Games*** (I changed that because it became an autolink) for a Heracross/Pinsir inferior to one they'd already bred in the last year? They knew how to get people to go; by making the special item the one by code in-store. Frankly, THAT angers me, because there is no guarantee EB will have it in Canada (sister store).

Yeah, they could've them Shiny though to bring people in.

Why couldn't GF have made it so that the wi-fi Pokemon had the Mega stone on it like Torchic did :(

  • Because Nintendo of America doesn't know how to come up with cool events like Japan does. Or they don't care.

Well they did come up with they Shiny Creation Trio events. Now if only they did Shiny Tao trio or even shiny Order/Mortality/ Yggdrasil trio events.

Anyways the drought of Pokemon events for XY is concerning, it's even less than BW had (and I thought those had a few). Especially Wi-fi events. Well I do expect the Diancie event to be soon so hopefully that'll end the drought. I'm hoping ORAS will have a flood of events.

Keep in mind Japan had the Megakick Pikachu. What did NOA do for the US soccer team? Yeah...

  • Seems Canada (and Latin America?) will be getting it too:
"Following the reveal of the Heracross and Pinsir events announced for North America on Friday, some clarification has come on the Pokémon Global Link. If you are located in Canada or Latin America, have your Pokémon Trainer Club location listed as Canada and have opted in to the official news letter, then in September, you will receive the Mega Stone serial codes through the Pokémon Trainer Club Newsletter. As with the United States, who get it in Gamestop stores, you will get Heracronite in Pokémon X, and Pinsirite in Pokémon Y. We'll bring more on this, including details when the Serial Code is being distributed, as soon as possible" (source: Serebii).

Meh, who cares. I have a copy of Pokémon X and Y, so this event really means nothing to me anyway. Kind of lame we have to subscribe to a newsletter instead of going to Gamestop's SISTER STORE (EB). I get enough spam already. I don't need more.

Though I wonder if you can get multiple stones this way...

I think it works only once, but you could always trade the stone you get from event to someone who needs it for something cool ;)

  • Bulbanews' article initially had a typo that said the Mega Stone distribution started on August 1st, so I went into GameStop to get a Heracronite.

Since the employee I talked to hadn't heard anything about the events, despite being a Pokemon fan himself, he checked his store's distribution schedule. Not only was he really nice about correcting me, but he said that the Mega Stones are the only in-store events that have been announced for the next few months. That's not to rule out anything wi-fi related, but I figured it was worth noting.

Woot, I'm excited to get the events! The serial code distribution is kinda annoying though. :c

  • My region always gets shafted event-wise (but at least they have Poke Ball Vivillon coming up soon) but going by previous posts I do agree this event is kinda meh given there seems to be nothing special about this Pinsir/Heracross other than the fact this event is giving you the one opposite to your version.

If they had something special like maxed IVs or even being shinies it would have been better, but I do agree with Zekrom that events for X/Y lately have either been exclusive to only certain areas, or not globally wi-fi distributed often (the only decent ones so far were the Blazikenite Torchic and the Fancy Vivillon).

I asked this in the general question thread but no one replied, but can someone tell me EXACTLY how to sign up for the newsletter? (not just "go to account settings and sign up" I want EXACT information) the onyl thing I can find is in the "Edit Profile" section which takes me to pokemon.com in the US section and there I find a section called "Email preferences" where there's a check box labelled " I would like to receive marketing email messages, including information about future online games, from The Pokémon Company International." which it is checked but I haven't gotten any kind of email from Pokemon and I don't want to miss the mega stone giveaway code (in Canada it's being distributed via the newsletter, not by in store giveaway) so can someone tell me exactly where/how to sign up and when the stones are being given away. Would I have missed it already?]

So does anyone have any information abotu when the newsletter distribution is going to be? Or how to confirm whether or not you're signed up for the newsletter?

IS anyone in Canada here and signed up for the newsletter? I just need someone who has done it to walk me through it in order to get the mega stones. Thanks!
