What are words you hate? I'm pretty sure we all have a word that we hate to hear.

I hate the word "ubiquitous". Thankfully no one uses it. But the way it sounds is quite bad, in my opinion at least.

Um, I dont use English nor do people around me, so I'll limit this to words that I hate because they are hard to pronounce.

Three - my tongue just cant handle this.

Actually - Im still not sure how to say this one with "American" accent

Punch, and pretty much any other word with "ch" cos it sounds so weird and accented is that a word?) when I say it.

Also, I dont like hearing totally. Heard it way to many times from some really annoying people so yeah, there's that.

    Words I hate?

    Retard.

It can be insulting to people with mental disabilities, when people carelessly through that word around, thinking it means 'stupid' when it really doesn't. I hate misuse of that word.

"Sick" immediately comes to mind for me. This is without a doubt one of the stupidest adjectives for "good" I have ever seen. Since when has being sick been a GOOD thing? It bothers me when someone describes something as "sick" in a positive way as it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I've never really liked the word anyway, and the way people throw it about now like this bothers me immensely.

I've never liked the word "moreish" for some reason either. I'm not sure why; it just rubs me the wrong way. If you want more, bloody eat more, don't say it's moreish and just listlessly pick at it because you have no self-control.

I don't think it's the words so much as their context which bothers me, actually.

I hate any plural form of a word that ends in "sk". Such as "asks", for example, which sounds like "askssis" to me. It just sounds awful.

Selfie and foodie first come to mind. No need to explain why.
    Later - "Ttyl" my ass.
Forever - My friends tend to misuse that word a lot when making bs promises.
Promise - I'm ****ing done with promises.
Bologna - It doesn't even sound like a real word.

    I might add more later.

    EXTREEEEEEEEEEME because 90s tbh

The sanitized version of the N-word used by African-Americans as a friendly calling (ending in a).

Also, euphemisms! Do you know how painful it was to write that sentence above because of manners and censors?

    "Bathroom tissue" - toilet paper
    "Passing away" - dying
    "Automobile accident" - car crash
    "Motor lodges" - motel
    "Mobile homes" - trailer
    "Economically disadvantaged" - poor
"Politically incorrect" - you're not speaking our Frebreezed-Swiffer ****head language, we dunt like uuu

...and political correctness as well. Put the cleaning supplies away, this isn't your bathroom. I'm going to break something when I hear a rape victim being referred to as an "unwilling sperm recipient".

The word "tummy" bothers me. I know it's weird but it makes me feel weird.
It also bothers me when people call me "weird/strange" excessively. Yeah I know I'm different than most people but chill.

YES I hate that too! I'm African American myself and I can't stand it. It's not cool or ok to call each other that, stop. It's the same when girls thought it was cool to call each other *****. That's not cute and funny either.

    "Passing away" - dying

This one bothers me as well. Just say the darn word.

I can't stand "retard" or "retarded" being used incorrectly and most of the time, they are. I've rarely heard anyone use it for the actual meaning, "to slow down", other than the "ritard" in music. If you're gonna call someone stupid, I mean, go ahead and do it I guess, but by God, don't make yourself look foolish and ignorant in the process by using "retarded."

And if any of you are thinking, "oh but there's a condition called mental retardation so hur hur it does mean x," think again. It was renamed to "intellectual disorder." The more you know!

It was my understanding that mental retardation (or ID as you call it) wasn't a condition itself but actually a grouping of other more specific forms of mental deficiency such as cerebral palsy, autism, etc. I guess not.

I'm with Sydian on this one, regarding the word "retard".

The reason I heavily despise the word is because my brother uses the word every single time he's bullying me, due to me having autism. It's very scary and I always have a feeling the word is causing me to suffer social anxiety which leads to me being unable to communicate properly.

    "no offence but..."

that said I use that phrase for satire myself.

idk I'm open to all words. And even if I dislike them it probably won't stop me using them in the long run. Definitely no singular words that I really hate tbh.

It's what I learned when I was a special education major, but I took that course quite a while ago. So if it's changed since then, then my apologies. However, it's still a much better term to use than the other.

The only word I can think of that I hate when people say around me is the "N"-Word. Especially since every woman I've ever dated was... Black...

I also don't like it when people use word "Communist" as an insult. Usually people use it to describe the U.S. Government, but "Fascist" is a much more accurate term for them.

I absolutely despise ghetto slang, like the following:

    Yolo
    Swag
    Bae
    Turnt
    Thot

Hearing these words always get me riled up.

On the Subject of the Word Retard "Spaz" and "mong" are horrible words as well.
Strange to think they were once "medical" words (Retard still being an unpleasant term as it means Backward or held back, Mongolian Idiot a both racist and horrid term for Down Syndrome ).
