  • I've been in a great many forums, and never have I felt so welcome. Most places ignore or even haze newcommers. So it's weird being welcomed and treated so nicely.

Anyway, Dragon in particular has been really helpful, thanks again Dragon.

He surely does a great job doesn't he? I am someone who's active in TWL so I know how he does so much to help the new guys settle in, and he's often served as an influence to my activity in there lately. And I'm sure he'd be proud of you too after reading this.

  • well I'll just be putting this over here o:! Just wanna say how awesome Dragon has been so far n-n! Gave me a warm welcome and introduction via PM before saying hello at the welcome thread I had made!

I also wanna give thanks to PokeCommunity & it's staff members! this site has always been an awesome place to escape from the clutches of sad stuff happening throughout my teenage years, and finally today I could chip in a little bit to show my appreciation! So again, thanks to all of you admins, mods, and PokeCommunity as a whole for being here when I needed you! *-*

  • A few people have already shared similar experiences as my own, but I'd just like to thank Dragon for the warm welcome. Almost immediately after I posted a thread in the New User section, I received a very friendly and welcoming PM from Dragon.

This is the first time I feel like I have actively been welcomed into an online community, so I really just want to say how much I appreciate it. I can't really offer any other feedback, but do think Dragon deserves some serious props for that.

I can definitely say of all the TWL mods I've witnessed during my time here, he definitely does his job well and takes it the extra mile by sending personal welcome messages which I think is definitely the way of the future for helping the new guys settle in.

And I'm sure everyone who has been lucky to have received his personal welcomes knows they are enjoying the community and that's what I love, people having fun and knowing the forum lives up to their expectations. On the other hand, he's one of those staff members I look up to a lot, and he's been serving as inspiration for my recent activity in the section. I'm sure anyone reading this would definitely know how awesome of a member he is.

I'm seriously laughing at all this hate for swear filters.

This place is a breeding ground for troubled teens XD

Big ol' shoutout to Peitharchia, Dragon and Wiicked! :D Thanks for being awesome and not infracting me! =D

Oh yes, about a month ago, I noticed in the Your Identity thread (General Chat) there was a pretty inappropriate swear word that got through (a word which used to mean cat) and when I consulted an Admin, he said that the mod has a say in what swear words are allowed. Call me old fashioned, but I don't like swear words, no matter the situation. I hope that the new censors does not let this happen again, but is there a guarantee?

  • I saw the swear censor mess up back when it was like...a day or two into its implementation, so with it being new, there will probably be a few hiccups at some point. For the most part though, it seems to be catching everything (I've left the censor on just to make sure things are going smoothly) so you shouldn't have much to worry about.

  • However, not every swear in the book is censored, and not everyone has the same idea of what is and is not a swear. So even with PC's pretty extensive filters, you may still see words that you think are right out of line. The particular word in question, if I'm thinking of the right one, happens to not be censored. vOv can't please em all

  • Considering things like the censor changes, community events, rule updates etc I feel he need to pipe in and say I'm really happy to see the staff of this community putting such a conscious effort into providing users with the kind of community we want to be apart of and trying to appease as many people as possible.

Keep up the good work guys!

I think you misinterpreted my reply (and re-reading it I sorta see how you could have). The word that you reported was, and and still is, uncensored. Therefore there is nothing against the rules in posting it and it's up to the mod to handle it depending on context. So it's not so much that mods have a say in what swear words are allowed, but rather a case of they decide if something outside of the swear filter is okay or not (in most cases anyway).

    Hope that makes more sense!

    Ooooooooh, I see...

Bit annoyed that the b-word get's censored and that horrible word used among American thugs go's along willy-nilly :) *starts stabbing pillows*

Whatever, at least I found my next campaign. xD

Like seriously though, these last two weeks or so have been filled with update after update on different matters revolving around all aspects of PC culture. It's a little nuts thinking how much has been actively done in such a short period of time (basing it off of general time it takes for things to usually get done on PC.)

Kudos and claps to the Admins and HQ for swiftly deliberating, passing, and coding a lot of these new rules and updates. Trust me when I say also that it's not done there - we've been hearing about a lot of other new stuff that will be updated as well so keep your eyes out for that in the future.

  • Yeah, when I first saw it on my phone I thought "Is this a glitch or something?" But when I close-up'd on my phone turns out that all the names were shriveled with it, and it was indeed a neat little thing they did.

Usually mods are pretty nice, reasonable people. If you think one's being unfair / rude / etc towards you then I'd recommend you contact a supermod or an admin about it.

No, we are not always mean! Nobody should be mean to you! We're a very welcoming community, but if you feel you have been mistreated, private message an admin or super mod with your complaint and let them know what's up. They'd be happy to look into it for you.
