  • I do, but I only do when my feet are cold. Other than that though, I go barefoot a majority of the time. I don't like how socks feel on my feet, so that's usually why I run around barefoot in and outside of the house. :P

  • Oh yes, people do. Though I'm not one of them. I'm normally barefoot in my own house, but I wear socks when I go to other people's houses or when I have people over. And sometimes I wear socks even when I don't have people over if it's so cold out that it's seeping in through the windows and making my feet feel like they're freezing.

  • Well someone's got an unlimited energy budget...

I kid. It is cold. I wear shoes, socks and a coat inside.

Also I know this is the total opposite in some cultures but does anyone else have it in their heads that it's disrespectful to not wear them in someone else's house, especially if you don't know them very well? Like I have no idea why but it just seems that way.

  • I don't usually wear socks since I think it's more comfortable, but when my feet get cold they get reaaalllly painful cramps that make it impossible to walk so I have to wears socks if it's cold.

  • I am always wearing socks unless I'm taking a shower or going swimming etc. Don't put your feet on me, don't put your feet near me, don't even joke about one of those two things unless you no longer want to be my friend.

  • Nope, I'm usually barefoot when at home. I'll only wear socks with shoes, or if I cannot find a way to warm my feet when they are cold.

lol everyone in my family thinks that it is weird that I am ALWAYS wearing socks. I wear them all day every day unless it's super hot out or if I just came in from swimming. I also sleep in my socks because I hate the way they feel against the sheets. I legit have like 50 pairs of socks because I wear them so much.

    Socks all the time.

My big toes' nails are gross because infection. Long story short, several of my toes got smashed when I was 16, and it takes fucking forever for them to recover from a fungal infection. My other toenails are all better, it's just my big toes we're waiting on now. :pink_tongue:
They're still mostly yellow/black and they literally just break off sometimes. They're all "layered" and cracking. Not wearing socks gets the sharp edges caught in my super plush bedroom carpet and my sheets, and just no.

I've gotten used to it, Boyfriend doesn't care, but out of common courtesy in polite company - and because it's just a painful hassle otherwise - socks always.

If my toes were "normal" I'd probably still wear socks all the time just out of habit after 6 years, lol.

  • I usually only wear sneakers with specific shoes or if I need to keep my feet warm when they're cold. Other than that, I go completely barefoot.

  • how does dipu not know it's a thing

I only wear them during cold months/days. Right now since it's getting warmer there's no need to have them on. Although I do prefer being barefoot.

  • I have these really awesome thick non-skid socks grandpa got me that I wear at home when it's cold. They are my soul. In fact I'm freezing now so I should put them on. Slippers are a rarity nowadays since ours aren't non-skid and I'm tired of nearly slipping ;_;///

  • I personally cannot stand having socks on my feet unless there's a reason for me to have them. Usually it's because I've been out and around and I just haven't taken them off yet.

Although this only applies during colder months because uhhh I try to avoid wearing socks whenever possible the rest of the year because I'd rather wear sandals everywhere. X) I don't do socks otherwise. Don't like the feel of them on my feet.

People do, yeah. That never struck me as unusual; I've always figured it would be a matter of preference. Personally, I don't; it's just as uncomfortable as wearing gloves all day.

Also I know this is the total opposite in some cultures but does anyone else have it in their heads that it's disrespectful to not wear them in someone else's house, especially if you don't know them very well? Like I have no idea why but it just seems that way.
As a youth, I was outright told that like it was a rule. I suppose there is some wisdom in it, as it may be a good way to avoid verrucas and suchlike.

I grew up being taught that, and it's something I tend to follow. Nowadays, I don't do it because its disrespectful, because I find it disrespectful to be barefoot in someone's house, I just think feet are pretty gross looking and assume other people feel the same way. I was pretty shocked when I found out that some people have a fetish for it.

I used to always go barefoot but I got into the habit of wearing socks on the regular just this past winter lol. My bedroom has ceramic tiling + the worst insulation/heat in the house so, yeah...

In the summer I usually wear flip-flops around the house, too.

  • Sometimes. It depends if my feet are cold.

At other people's house, I ask permission to remove my shoes. I think wearing shoes is disrespectful inside, but bare feet is worse!

The real question is why are Americans always depicted as wearing outdoor shoes inside? Seriously. Look at King of the Hill as an example. Take those off; you're dirtying the entire house! :pink_no:

    Weirdos :pink_tongue:
