  • Every single time I've tried to install has failed. This last time left my computer a little bit wonky. It's extremely frustrating. I just want windows 10 dammit!

I've finished updating both of my computers last night to Windows 10, and so far, I'm loving what I see! All its apps are integrated within the desktop, so to speak (as in, when launching an app, it would not fill up the screen entirely, and act as a window), which is one reason as to why I'm liking it, and its interface is also more polished than before.

Although I am enjoying Windows 10, there are definitely some things here and there that don't precisely click with me, with one being system icons (I'm referring to the ones we see in places such as notification tray, Microsoft Edge, and so forth). To me, they seem a little too... thin, I suppose. I'm not sure how to explain, haha.

Day 2 and I think that all in all Windows 10 is a fantastic upgrade, but it's killing me inside with how glitchy it has made Chrome :( I'll just have to wait for a update as yada yada Windows 10 has just been released and whatever, but combined with the glitchy mouse it's really Cramping My Style.

  • I think I have some pros and cons to list:

    Pros:
    - Good 'ol Start menu is back, which makes it more manageable.
    - Microsoft Edge looks pretty promising
    - Metro apps can run alongside usual Windows apps without having to go into Full Screen!
    - You can make second or third desktop without need of using third-party software!
    - More ways of logging in, you can use PIN number, gestures and your face, or so I heard.
    - I haven't tried this one, but apparently it has built-in screen captures as well.
    - Cortana might be great to assist your experience in PC. However... it has some cons described below.

    Cons:
    - The white title bar is too plain in terms of Windows interface, I wish I can change it to any color of my liking.
    - Shorter battery life (that might be one of the early bugs found before Windows 10 was released in public, so I hope it's fixed soon).
    - Speaking of Cortana, if you're not in USA, UK, German, Italy, Spain, France and China, you're out of luck because you can't use it (for a meantime).

  • I'm still considering on upgrading. I'll probably ask my brother or sister to try upgrading on their laptops and see how smooth it goes.

Mine finally upgraded after 3 tries I think? I do like it so far though! Not a huge fan of the navigation bar at the bottom but overall it's sleek and very fast. Definitely glad I updated!

  • Welp. My GPU didn't like the new update one bit. So much in fact I needed to fight with it for a few hours to even let me get into Windows 10 to let me go back to 8.1. ._.

New GPU on the way though so I'll try again then. I might let my laptop upgrade though just to see what it does. I've got less to lose on that thing.

What exactly happened with your GPU though? If your computer can run Windows 8.1 fine, then there's no reason it can't do the same for Windows 10.

After reverting, I'm going to guess that my computer is taking its sweet time to download and prepare the upgrade again. I can wait. Who likes buggy OSes?

  • I'm really eager to upgrade, but my computer has failed to upgrade to 10 about 30 times over the last few days. I have no idea why, but it might have something to do with the fact that I build my computer, it's not from an OEM.

That really shouldn't have anything to do with it, weird.

Did it give any error messages?

  • So the install has still not officially appeared for me.

Question for those who haven't seen it appear yet either: did you guys have clean, non-OEM installs? I seriously wonder if that's factoring into why I cannot get it downloaded.

  • People still haven't gotten theirs yet? I get the feeling this is more of an end-user thing rather than Windows, because the people I've worked with/known irl have already gotten them after 48 hours. I have a feeling there's something in your computer that's not letting the upgrade go through, so I'd rather take a good look on that.

I had a similar problem in my desktop when I was trying to upgrade from 8 to 8.1. I couldn't upgrade it directly from the Shop because of an update that failed to install. So I ended up doing a factory-reset on my whole desktop, and that actually allowed the 8.1 upgrade to go through instead of going back to 8. So maybe for those of you who are still struggling to upgrade, factory-resetting your computer could be the way to go.

  • Well right now I'm using Microsoft's installation media tool to see if that can force the upgrade. Hopefully that works for me.

  • There's a way to force the upgrade as mentioned here:

    https://venturebeat.com/2015/07/28/...tart-downloading-the-windows-10-update-files/

    Basically:
    1. Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and delete all its contents
    2. Open an Administrator Command Prompt and type, "wuauclt.exe /updatenow"

This will force Windows to check for updates, and should begin the download of Windows 10.

Still not work, right now Using the Media Creation Tool to download Hopefully it works....... :) (Right now 50% complete)

Apparently the Windows Update "errors" when it tries to upgrade to Windows 10 are by design - it only means that it's not its time yet. Or something. (Try searching the error code and Windows 10 upgrade.)
