pokecommunity, what are/were the dumbest rules at your schools?

I am a 21 year old man and I am very upset that I cannot drink in my own home because I live on a "dry campus".

    please post responsibly

My school bans dyed hair and generally has absurd rules like "shoulders can't be showing". I'm not opposed to dress codes, but they really should be more practical.

    - "the two fingers rule" which is basically the minimum length your sleeves should be

there's a ton of shitty rules but this one is by far the stupidest along with the other dress code ones. like, i'm nearly an adult and i'm not allowed to decide how much shoulder i want to show?

edit: leaf beat me to it boo

We couldn't have logos bigger than one inch on any of our shirts / jackets / hoodies.

Needless to say that no one followed this rule and they eventually stopped trying to enforce it.

There was one time where my high school they tried to make a rule where you couldn't bring your backpack into the classrooms.

That only lasted for like a day or two lol

My high school banned them after my 9th grade year because a few people were using them to sell drugs from. It was so stupid having to carry around everything or make trips to my locker between every class. We also had this fucked up rule about not being able to bring drinks to school but instead we had to buy them from the school for break and lunch.

Let me guess: the prices were significantly higher than normal weren't they? :p Lots of small, private schools in our country does this so they can leech off more money from students.

Not at the school I attended, but schools that enforce weirdly excessive dress codes (ie. no piercings, hair die etc) tend to confuse me. We have compulsory uniform in Australia, any more than that is a bit odd since nobody's hair colour or jewellery are likely to be a distraction in class.

The rule about not having music during quiet time in class. However, this was the fault of those that used their music during times when they weren't allowed to. It ruined it for those that only used it when they needed to.

the laundry list of my high school's rules (keep in mind, i went to high school from 2006-2010)

    - no unnaturally dyed hair (pink, blue, etc)
    - no spiked hair
    - jackets cannot exceed where your pants pockets are
    - jackets cannot be worn in school except in classrooms
    - those jackets can't be a hoodie either
    - purses must be the size of a notebook sheet of paper, no bigger
    - no backpacks, period
    - tank straps must be the width of an ID card (about three fingers)
    - shorts/skirts cannot come up past the knee (so just don't bother honestly)
    - no neon (remember when i said i went to high school, the pinnacle of neon tbh)
    - no bright tight pants (lmao remember when these were cool)
    - no skinny jeans on guys
    - guys must tuck in their shirts
    - guys must wear a belt at all times (often studded remember the times!!! THE TIMES!!)
    - no visible tattoos
    - no drug related logos on shirts
    - no open toed shoes

i think that's it thanks OHS for being shitty. i'll never forgot the year i started going there, on the first day they made us meet in the gym to go over the dress code (i mean there's so fucking much of course they had to) and i got called down...because i was a prime example of how to dress...and i was wearing like...a fucking nice ass vest over a white button up and some nice jeans and black converse hahahahahahahahahahahaha what the fuck.....................

My French teacher banned all food and water in her classroom and we could only use pens. I can understand banning food, since we were asked to repeat back answers out loud, but no water? Also, pen is great for learning a new language with. The amount of black blobs that were on my sheets from scratching out misspelled words and wrong forms were pretty bad.

No hoodies/hoods, and jackets can only be colored green, grey, or white. It's dumber than it is because nobody even gives af.

During my time at school we had a lot of rules

    -No dyed hair.
-Girls can't wear socks. only stockings
-We can't show cleavage at all but the school forces us to wear small mini skirts
    -We can't bring Manga
-You need to join a Club. not joining is not an option.
-Participating in School Festivals and Events are mandatory
    -Jewelry is not allowed

Now the crazy part is the fact that the School and the Student Council(Students chosen to run the school) have an effect outside of school. They literally walk around the city nagging students. They also have alot of rules for outside of school

Most rules do not apply to the Student Council Members:
    -No Karaoke
    -No Eating out after 8Pm
    -No Arcade
-No sleepovers, even with parents permission
-No Cram Classes without permission from school
-No working part time after school without permission from School. the school assess the job you have and sees if its appropriate for you.(No love Hotel part Time Jobs)
-Curfew is at 10Pm for Students. 11PM for Student Council

If you're caught by the Student Council or any Official, have fun cleaning the entire school for 5 days straight.

No food, gum or drinks in classes, no logos what so ever on hoodies/coats/jackets, plus, and I think it's state wide by now, it started for me in 3rd grade, all schools wear mandatory uniforms, which wouldn't be so bad, but ours were bright red, navy or white polo shirts tucked into khaki or navy pants, no cargos or anything tight, shorts had to come down to your knees, and you'd get written up for not wearing a belt. So fucking ugly, other districts had better colors. Oh, and those see-through backpacks became mandatory after my 7th grade year. I doubt they still do this now, because everyone has a phone, but when I was in high school, you couldn't have a cell phone on you, if the teachers saw you using one, even just to check the time, they'd take it.

Yessss omfg the "two fingers rule" is incredibly stupid. Like most of the rules you see in highschools regarding dress code are heavily targeted at the girls - mainly stuff like "mid-thigh shorts only" or "no one can see your bra strap". Like these girls you're referring to are like 14-17, if you're going to be making rules that sexualize minors bodies excessively like that then you really need to take a step back and reflect on why you're paying so much attention to a goddamn bra strap in the first place.

    Just...dress codes, man.
