6th Gen X/Y Third Version Speculation Thread

I think this confirms holiday 2016 for Z/other 3rd version/7th gen. Only logical place for it if the movie is July. They'll announce it in Spring and get the hype train really rolling at the Worlds.

I wonder how we'll be able to obtain Volcanion and where it's from. Personally, it's typing and design is giving me a tropical tiki man type of vibe. The styling of the font in its CoroCoro page gives off that vibe to me too(its Dex number 721 and the 2016 date). Overall, his design is so appealing to me because it's so different from past Mythical Pokemon. The majority of them have like a magical/fairy design going on, while Volcanion almost seems like Heatran.

And Serebii Joe tweeted that the gap between the original 2 versions and the third version is an average of 17-20 months. We are currently at 13 months according to him.

As for Volcanion's reveal, it being the last event mon for this gen feels kinda underwhelming, as usually the last event mon of each gen tends to have a Mewtwo-like vibe to it, whether it's by its stats or dex descriptions.

Yeah, I used "holiday" as a October-December timeframe. What you said is most likely.

I think it is ORAS.

Well... hooray? I mean, the sign of Volcanion starring in the movie (as the nemesis of Zygarde? Surprise us Gamefreak) is a good one because hey, the wait won't be long any more. I agree with all of you that we will get an announcement in spring, be it a third version, sequel/prequel blalala. It just seems unlikely to me right now that we will be getting 7th gen. Which is fine, no big deal, but I'm expecting a freaking awesome game, especially storylinewise, and perhaps some new mega evos to give a little extra hype.

At the end of the day: satisfied and looking forward to the next major revelation...

If the tweet you speak of is what I've read, then he was only talking about DP-> Pt (20) and BW ->B2W2 (17). Also, it was to show how big the gap between main games in general, not necessarily Original pair and third version/sequel, can be. The shortest gap between main games has been RG -> Blue and FrLg -> Emerald at around 8 months.

Volcanion will likely get a forme/Mega/Primal/Something as the other legend featured in the movie with the third/ direct sequel version mascot have gotten formes for the past three generations (Deoxys fought Rayquaza , Shaymin fought Giratina, Keldeo fought Kyurem), though in Deoxys' case it's new forme wasn't featured in the movie despite Emerald coming out that same year.

You know, I was thinking that maybe we all want Pokémon Z so bad is because we all ran through ORAS so quickly. I found myself with very little to do after I finished OR. Maybe Game Freak should focus on giving us a longer post game instead of releasing a new game every year. And if that's why Pokémon Z is taking so long then i'll gladly wait (Just as long as Z come out before I go to college)!

I to think that he will get a new form. Since Diancie has a mega and Hoopa an alternate form, I believe that volcanion will get a primal form and use it in the movie.

The original pair was released in 2013, ORAS was released 13 months ago. Meaning it has been 26 months since the original pair came out.

As you can see remakes aren't really an indication for the 3rd release as they have always been released within 2 years of the original pair, but it has been over 2 years now and we still don't have any information about a 3rd version.

let's be honest here, the dates of release are more dependent upon the status of the market at each time and follow no other pattern.
gamefreak & nintendo are companys and both have more on their plate then just pokemon.
as for remakes
FR/LG where made to add the missing kanto pokemon back into the trade flow(Colosseum & XD served as the gateway for johto pokemon in the 3ed gen and part of the 4th gen)
HG/SS where made for an anniversary event.
OR/AS where made because of the hoenn confirmed meme an the vast demand for 3ed gen remakes that started it.

nintendo is an older company the microsoft(april 4 1975) & sony(may 7 1946) having been around since sept 23 1889.
sony started out as an electronics shop
microsoft started out as computer makers
nintendo started off as trading card makers and dabbled in love hotels & cab services til they became toy makers, then video game makers.
obviously they went back to their roots to some extent over the years

obviously they will add the additions of ORAS added into the series Pokemon Z. I suspect a new story element will be added, and a completely new feature we didn't see before. Some Mega Evolutions for long waited games.

Even though I wasn't expecting an announcement, I'm starting to get hyped from the long wait instead of getting angry like I've seen some fans get. It's been 2 years and 2 months since X/Y's release, meaning that it may be almost 3 once "Z" is released. Having such a big gap like that tells me that they're putting more work into it, at least that's how I look at it... because remember, our typical 3rd versions don't take long for them to make, yet it's looking like its taking longer in this special case, which tells me we ain't getting just an ordinary 3rd version like we have in the past. That's something worth getting excited over, hopefully they'll deliver.

It's also since we now got Mega Evolutions they will add more of them to the game, meaning more work on designing new megas and modelling. It's also made in 3D instead of just 2D sprite now too, maybe Z will improve the frame rate and prob has some features available on New 3DS. They could also rewrite the whole story to fit with Zygarde new form and adding more clothing and areas we couldn't visit earlier.

Something seems off about those gaps...are those the international gaps? As the Japanese gaps are shorter. According to Joe the Gen V pairs were 17 months apart, not 21. Though, now that I think about it he might've been the one using the international dates since Japan had a no game year unlike us in the West.
