So in the new footage on Sun and Moon, there is a girl with yellow hair and dressed with white blouse.

Do you guys think Second Rival?

Do you think she will be relevant to the story?

Seems we're getting a Barry/Dawn repeat. The girl doesn't like battling and so far we have no videos of her in battle. So it's hard to say if she'll be a rival as of yet. She is the professor's assistant and has a role to play with the story though.

It says she's doesn't like making Pokemon fight. So it seems unlikely we'll be battling her often enough for her to be a rival.

I'm disappointed they pretty much put a neon sign next to her saying "Important Character". Subtlety seems to be completely lost on them. Now everyone will think she's the champion or the evil team leader.

Personally I'm getting a vibe that she might be important to the legendaries somehow. Like only she can call upon them for whatever reason.

Like the last few posts said, Lillie doesn't seem to like battling so I doubt she'll be a rival. I guess Hau will be the only rival in the game, and we haven't had just a single rival since B2/W2, but the fact that Hau uses the starter weak to ours shows he is different from the other standalone rivals like Blue and Silver who also take another starter and leave the third to just sit and rot at the lab for the rest of the game.

I think the third will go to Lillie. Not liking battles doesn't mean she won't have a Pokémon of her own - maybe a bodyguard at Kukui's insistence.

I am doubting they will be going back to 1 rival. I mean I don't mind it, but it would be a bit annoying. I would prefer to have 2 rivals. I would also like the opposite gender to be one of the rivals.

As for Lillie, I think she might be able to speak to pokemon similar to N, but different.

She honestly reminds me of Bonnie in the face. And I really love her design. She might still be our rival and learn that sometimes you just have to battle. She looks really sad in the trailer, but also looks annoyed in her art. She could also be a lot like Wally.

She is there when we get our starter pokemon, so she could get the 3rd starter.

Based on her design, I think she is not from Alola, she is a foreign helping the professor. Something tells me that this generation will have a more complex plot

This Lillie character is probably not very important to the story, or at least not super important. Trailers like to focus on the things that will get attention rather than what is actually important in the context of the game. "Quick, show a mysterious looking blonde girl! That'll get 'em talking."

Actually the pokemon site says that she will have a big role in the games.

    Lillie
Lillie is a mysterious girl who assists the professor. This young girl is about the same age as your character, and she's working as Professor Kukui's assistant for personal reasons. She's not fond of making Pokémon fight in battles, but she loves reading and has devoured many books. Lillie will play an important role in the story of Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon.

I feel like she'll have a relation to the villains. Perhaps the daughter of their leader, whom does not want to battle and be "bad", so she joins up with the "good" guys and is interested in Pokemon research instead of battle?

That or maybe she's got some sort of relation to the Legendaries? If she's so important, it would make sense. Perhaps she'll be like their conduit for something.

Well, they say that, yes, but nothing in the trailers themselves makes me think she's all that important. "Important role" is so vague that it doesn't really mean anything.

I understand what you are saying, but I have never known Pokemon to name a character and call them important and then they not be important at all. There was the friends in XY, but they were still rivals.

I could be wrong, but when Pokemon calls someone important, they are usually important.

She is the same age as the character, which leads me to believe that she will also be traveling around.

Generally, they recently released OR/AS, with May in it taking a similar role, and being quite central. While they may not be 'super important,' getting them involved cursorily might be complex if they don't train Pokémon, and hence are mostly a plot character. Nonetheless, it could be that they noticed a beach and just decided to add females of popular hair colours in for convenience and to do lip-service to the setting, but in general as the plot might involve this setting significantly they could fit in there as well. Given that they probably do pay some attention to the anime when it comes to plot, though, a blonde character by this point can hardly be counted out of being involved in the plot and everything else.

After watching the Japanese Trailer, the Rotom Dex shows that the character has seen all 3 starters in the first town. This leaves me to believe there will still be a 2nd rival which may be the female.

If Hau is one of the rivals, then that's leaving speculation for either Lillie or the opposite-gender protagonist for the other rival because I can't see anyone else pictured at the moment.

I think Lillie has the starter that's strong against ours. Ironically she seems to dislike battles like N.

I think she'll play an important role with the Professor and interacting with the main characters, but I don't think she'll be quite important enough to be a rival, especially if she doesn't like to battle. It would be neat for her to get used to it, and become a decent trainer by the end of the game, though!

Maybe she's just important for the story, or she might be one of your friend, but not a rival?

Or maybe they already decided she's gonna be in the Anime, and that's why she's important (future Ash's companion?)
