Name: Mori Takara and Mondu
Species: Wood Elf (Mori), Ferret (Mondu)
Gender: Female (Mori), Male (Mondu)
Personality: Mori is a curious and energetic girl. She's perky and cheerful more often than not, always optimistic, and enjoys the simpler pleasures in life. For her, the world is one giant playground, and all the people in it are either her playmates or her playthings. Her optimism is not ditziness: she has a good deal of common sense, a genuine fondness for people that is usually reciprocated, and while she recognizes that bad things happen, she's confident that good things will happen too, so that's what she focuses on.
Mondu, conversely, spends most of his time asleep. While his body slumbers, his mind is actively hatching nefarious schemes and planning daring heists. It is his dream to have grand adventures, infiltrating impregnable fortresses and getting the better of his unsuspecting victims, escaping into the night with a smile on his face and a bauble in his teeth. He enjoys thefts and pranks, thinking them just a bit of fun, and considers himself the greatest trickster the world has never known.
While Mori finds Mondu's antics amusing, she tries to get him to use his talents for good. For his part, Mondu thinks Mori is too selfless, but he finds her cheerfulness endearing. She is slowly making him a more moral mustelid, while he is convincing her to be more adventurous. The two are inseparable, and care for each other more than anything else.
Appearance:
Mori is very cute, though whether she or Mondu is cuter depends on your personal preference and definition of the word. Her pale skin is devoid of any blemishes, while her blue hair is kept short, except for twin tails that reach down to her waist. With her green eyes that seem to sparkle when she's happy, and the cat-like grin she near constantly sports, she always looks happy and carefree. Living in the Forest, she's used to warmer weather, wearing black leather shorts and a halter top, though she has a red cloak to ward off wind chill or serve as a blanket while she naps. Since moving to the North Pole, she has invested in pants.
Mondu looks like a ferret. He is about a foot and a half long from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, with light brown fur darkening to black on his legs. His face is covered in white fur, except for the brown fur around his eyes which resembles a bandit's mask. He doesn't normally wear clothes, but Mori got him a cute little Santa hat after they arrived at the Pole.
History: Mori spent her childhood in the Forest, climbing trees by day, chasing fireflies by night, and learning magic whenever her tutor could manage to sit her down for more than five minutes. When she was born, the stars foretold that she would bring great happiness to many people, so all in her village took an interest in her upbringing. Mainly, she just wanted to have fun.
There once existed a powerful being that dwelled beyond time and space. Dwelling in the shadows, it was fascinated by all that lived in the light. Seeking to slake its curiosity, it severed a piece of itself and sent it tumbling through the cosmos, only to forget why it had done so. Shrugging its nonexistent shoulders, it returned to its sleep beyond the edge of the universe. The fragment eventually manifested on the material plane, first gaining consciousness, then gaining form. Deciding on a sable ferret as its preferred form, it wandered the planet for what felt like years. Days, even!
On a routine expedition, Mori found the ferret wandering alone. She instantly fell in love, and snatched it up into a warm hug. The ferret found itself reciprocating her affection, and they became fast friends, with Mori naming him Mondu. Later, her master allowed Mori to take Mondu as her familiar, binding their souls together as master and servant. To this day, they haven't decided which one is which.
Now, word has spread that Santa has lost the services of his elves, and is seeking help. Naturally, an elf should answer the call, so Mori set out for the North Pole as soon as she could.
Powers/Abilities/Skills: As a Wood Elf who has been studying magic for decades, Mori has learned how to manipulate the very elements of nature. She can fly with air magic, create light with fire magic, and conjure a refreshing beverage with water magic. She didn't pay much attention in class, and left before she had learned any of the master level spells, but she has a firm grasp of the basics, and dabbles in combining the elements to create new effects.
Mondu can do all the things a ferret can do, which is more than you'd think, but less than you'd hope. His familiar bond with Mori allows them to communicate telepathically, though he has no memory of his origins.
Other: Mori is 140 years old, which is equivalent to 20 years old to a human. Mondu's age can only be guessed.
