I know, I was all set to have three people to trade with, too! I can collect 'em all by myself in Diamond though -- have all the GBA games for dual slot and Pearl so I can trade with myself.
I agree the Japanese culture showcased in the games has been the biggest factor in changing my world view in Pokemon. I remember the Dojo in Silver, I believe, that had invisible walls. You couldn't walk straight into it, but had to change the way you thought about confronting things in life (things are NOT what they appear to be) and enter by turning to the right first. What a life-changing revelation! I've never forgotten that and apply the truth of the philosophy to real life now. Its allowed me to win challenges where other people have failed.
I hadn't heard about all the Pokemon that will be able to follow you around in the remakes -- how very cool!! :-D I've missed my Yellow Pikachu in every game I've played since. I liked checking its reaction to events; made the game very real for me.
Used to watch the first season cartoons, but haven't seen the new ones or any of the movies. Do you have a favorite to suggest? I think my granddaughters might have a movie or two I could borrow...
Funny how most people can drop the game and never give it another thought. I guess you have the heart of a trainer, or you don't. I think it might be like reading books. You can read things like you would a text book or you can read them as if you are the main character and participate in the story in your heart. Some people just can't suspend belief long enough to live the book or game.
