  • I'm gonna leave you two alone now.
Btw, what will you do if you're elected president?
Oh really? If you're serious, you can come on the server tonight. We're having a Community Night, which could be a good way to start battling. I'm also making a guide on battling, but it will be a while before it's finished. /late
Or looking away from each other. D:

I did some research earlier today, and the only things I could come up with were Labyrinth and Legend. I think they have most of what you're looking for, but I haven't seen them myself: only heard good things about them. The Spirit of the Beehive isn't fantasy at all, but Guillermo del Toro has said that it influenced Pan's Labyrinth immensely, and it was reportedly the direct inspiration for My Neighbour Totoro.

Fantasy and me don't really go well together, unfortunately. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Well, off the top of my head: The Rome TV series essentially set the ball rolling for Spartacus. It's not fantasy, but it's solid historical fiction (which is sort of like early GoT really, before any magic happens). Aguirre, the Wrath of God isn't really fantasy per se, but it has that LotR adventure style plot and pacing. It's also a lot darker, more gruesome, and in German, so make of that what you will.

And then, of course, The Hobbit will be out later this year!
The thing with fantasy is that most of the successful films are based off books and have craploads of money thrown at them by their studios. And those are very, very rare indeed. As for TV, Game of Thrones is a unique animal, as fantasy has never really been done on that scale on TV until now.

I'll see what I can find, though.
Yeah, it makes sense. I wasn't liking the tiles that came with PE much. I'll probably get some custom ones, then start working towards making my own. I'm not sure what style I prefer yet, I like the 4th generation but I'll probably mess around create a style of my own eventually. I've found some tutorials for RGSS and pixel art, so I'll start with the basics (shadowing is my weakest point I think) and build up over time. Thanks for your advice, I'll check out the link for sure.
Haha, the Adoption thread sounded like you'd already OK'ed it, my bad. ;) I think I'm getting the basics down pretty well, the scripting and art is causing me the most issues so far, but I think most of that just comes down to practice. I want to make my own tilesets and sprites, so I feel like it'll take me a while to do anything and even get good enough for me to show anything off, lol. Is it easy to map something using the default PE GFX and then turning those into my custom GFX? It'd be nice to start on the game itself without having to worry about losing my maps when I get some custom stuff done. =)
Looking at the etymology of 'phoenix' gives some alternate spellings the word has had in the past: fenix, phenix, and phoinix.
Some words that some to mind with 'rising' are: raise, soar, zenith, up, surge, appear, swell, awake.
