If you picked Treecko Wattson's Magneton will destroy your team unless you picked up Geodude or Makuhita. But in general, it's probably Norman, especially in R/S where his Slaking had Counter and Focus Punch. You were damned if you did, damned if you didn't.

All three are actually the strongest starters in any game by BST. And honestly, I mix it up each time I play. Sceptile gives me a strong mixed sweeper, Blaziken gives me a powerhouse attacker, and Swampert can be the rock of your team that can also turn around and hit with the best of them.

I've played Emerald about 20 times through by now, there's very few pokemon I haven't gotten around to using. I'd say my favorite starter is Torchic, because Blaziken is just way too good with all the coverage he gets, but you can't go wrong with any of the three :3 I'll definitely check out...
