No, there are these really fat chickens in the first mission.
I really felt the same way about the game. I need something explosive at the beginning of the game, not slaying chickens.
However, I do have crystal defenders and I love it to death.

I've been motivated to get a theme like yours, except for the fact that FFTA2 has really horrid sprites for the most part. I think I'll be those fat chickens 8D
