Japan is selling figures of Ash and Serena. I now regret missing the Comic Con today (I was too late to get the tickets), because they sell Japanese merchandise there.

I spent $600 at the last one I think. But that wasn't just on Pokemon things.

Pokemon is always crazy popular. Every stall has at least a little Pokemon merch in the dealer's room. Artist alley is a bit of a mixed bag toward Pokemon, though.

those are a blast if anime's your thing, but if you only like a few anime the only thing you'll enjoy is finding a ton of merchandise in both the dealer's room and the artist alley about those anime/franchises if they happen to be popular ones

they can be, but just go with a group of friends you trust who are interested in going. and start small

I have it on good authority that the local scifi cons are a bit tamer than the anime cons after hours. This is straight from event hosts that hosted a panel I attended at Anime Detour that have been to pretty much all of the longer running cons in the Twin Cities over the past decade.

Ooh, that sounds amazing! I don't know a lot about Rooster Teeth but they seem really famous on YouTube. I also always see the fan club bumped on the forum index by a post from you :P
