Well, you have to keep in mind that that particular loss will be when it really matters, at the League. If Paul can't beat Ash there, it pretty much shows that Paul's morales aren't better then Ash's, if you know what I mean. And Silver in the game changed after one defeat by Lance, so why not?

No, she's doing it to keep him off the internet. Which is keeping EVERYBODY off the internet. He's like "chatting" and having an online "girlfriend", and he put our phone # where she could see it. There a big long story, no, my mom isn't some big meany for not letting him have this "girlfriend" but there's a whole backstory. Let's just say she's not the only guy in her life.
