You can still get them fixed :) if you don't mind sending it to a shop I can get you hooked up for like $6 I got mine done fairly recently.

They help you out a lot. In Ruby youre helped by Aqua to get Groudon and defeat Magma vice versa for Sapphire. I believe Emerald theyre teamed up together... Im playing through Y at the moment as the GBA player for GameCube is with my older brother.

This is starting to shape up nicely :) If you need any help running the group, idk how I can be of help but I will.
