There's one other strategy I employed. I didn't bid at first. If there was too much competition, I would have to move on to the one with shipping extra, but only would have been a few dollars more.

Since there's two days left, that will likely get beaten. I would advise doing what I did and setting at $32.50. If someone really wants it that badly, you will be outbid; if not, then you will get whatever they bid you up to. It also protects you if someone tries to sneak-bid you at the end, and makes them pay more than they might otherwise have wanted to.

No one tried to sneak on me all day on the final day of mine, but that may not be the case on this one. I think one bid was made that increased it, the person saw I was protecting it, and thus moved on.
