Huh, really? Increased seriousness tends to be a sign that a series is climbing towards some kind of climax. But it's still kinda weird to look back on the first part of a very long story and then see how much the atmosphere of the tale has changed since then.

Nearly everyone is into the same ships, anyway. It's not like the anime where there's multiple possibilities for one chracter (HI ASH).
