never really had much time for the emerald battle frontier, or any battle frontier for that matter, just can't see myself plying 60 odd battles in a row just to battle some stupid frontier brain

Aaah Crystal, I recently replayed Silver, it was fun. I'm thinking of doing so again with an Ampharos (gotta love em!)

Its not that bad, the story is pretty much exactly the same as D/P so as long as you can remember what to do you are fine... It does annoy me though when buying things, and when random people in houses want to trade.
