I know the feeling. My parents wouldn't like it, but I would spend all day doing battle after battle trying to fine tune my skills.

I battled competitively on a regular basis at one point, but I've never used showdown. Strictly XY/ORAS.

I used to be able to breed Pokemon very well, but now I'm pretty good at getting 5 and 6 iv Pokemon.

Yeah, but in general we're more of a community than most other forums, which brings both good and bad things here.

Yeah, the staff there are very business like, and it reflects on the rest of the community as well. Although I'm not sure if the staff affected the community, or vice versa.

And yes, some people take these little creatures way too seriously.

The staff are nice enough. I've asked a few questions and have received the answers I was looking for, but some of them do seem to be a bit abrasive. I've only posted my grass team on there once, and one of the suggestions made by someone was that I should just scrap the team entirely and choose another type because grass sucks. Yeah, I didn't take that advice, haha.

I tried to get into Smogon, but I quickly lost motivation. There seems to be this wall where all new people get stuck. It's outside of the community, and you need to work hard to get through it and actually be accepted. I gave it my best shot, but people just didn't seem to want me around, so i left. Although I almost made it into the magazine.

I'd challenge friends but I'm a bit better than them so I win often and they stop playing :l

My favorite aspect of Pokemon? Idk, it's been a long time (been playing since I was five years old). It's probably a mix of everything: the Pokemon designs, the competitive play, the story. I guess the best thing is that I get to customize my team of Pokemon in whatever way I want, and I can play with Pokemon any way I want. Like, I can do contests, battles, or breed them. Idk if that makes sense XD

The competitive community is one of the hardest to post in because everyone is trying to prove that they're better/smarter than everyone else. It's not so bad here, but once you get on the Smogon forums, be prepared to defend just about anything you say.

Oh. D: I might read... or I could try to work on more ideas for my story but... hm.

I just remember the old argument that double battles were better than single battles and anyone who could play doubles were smarter than the people who only did single battles.
