Really? Are the ROMs themselves not working or is it the hacks that aren't working?
If the ROMs aren't working, I really don't know what to say...
But to play the hacks you gotta rename the 'patch' to the same as the base ROM. It's confusing at first, but once you figure it out your palm will go straight to your forehead. :D

Personally, I found the ROM hacking section and became hooked. But that may not be your cup of tea.
I spent a week or two in the Pokemon trivia section, that's always pretty fun.
