I think there is an ability on gardevoir that makes it a 50% chance to get the wanted nature, but no IV's. Chaining is probably shorter.

I have heard as little as 200 for a shiny as well, but also up to 2,000. The think with masuda method is you can't be too picky, especially with high step counts. Like hunting for a hidden ability female eevee would literally take ages.
