Put the title in one css-span
then create another css-span which is the sidebar only (w/o the top part)
and make it repeat vertically onely
and put your text in that.
then (if you want) create an "upside down" version of your top span

the only thing its not good for this is if you want something longer the image repeates inseted of streching.
