  • I would depending on your game get an Articuno and make sure it has Mind Reader and Sheer Cold and go to the Battle Tower. Mind Reader makes sure the next move hits so Sheer Cold will for sure hit even if they used Double Team. Warning, it doesn't learn Sheer Cold until like lvl 84 or something but I got to the end of the Battle Tower with Articuno.
No problem. I'm sure you understand it cuz I went into detail? It's a very complex process but very useful. Also vitamins like Carbos, Iron, Protein, etc add 10 EV's per stat; but GameFreak made it so you can only get 100 maximum for stats. So you can buy 10 Proteins for Attack and raise that Pokemon's attack with 100 EV's. You won't see the results of EV training immediately it's a long process because the stat's gotta process it. Don't worry tho, if you did it right then when your Pokemon reaches level 100 and your stat is at it's max or close it it's max according to Serebii.net then you know you did it right.
Shadow would understand that you want to EV train your Pokemon first. I'm sure he EV trains his Pokemon as well and that's how you have the most fun with battles is if both are EV trained. So send him a PM delaying the battle for a week or so, so you can prepare your Pokemon for it.
Ok, you won't be able to EV train Pokemon that's already been trained so you gotta start from scratch. Either catch the Pokemon or breed it. When EV training you wanna decide which stats you wanna boost. Lets say you got a Heracross. You don't wanna raise it's Sp. Attack because it learns Physical Attacks so instead you wanna boost its Attack. So for Heracross Attack, either Def or Sp. Def, and Speed. You get a total of 510 EV's a Pokemon with 255 maximum per stat. So if you use Heracross and defeat 255 Sentret's then the rest after that won't count you'll have to change to another stat because you've reached the maximum. You don't have to go 255 and 255 you could go 255 and use a Calculator and divide 255 by 2 and round to the nearest tenth and that gives you 127 for 2 other stats. Or divide 255 by 1/3 and that gives you 85. So you could go 255 for Attack, 127 for Def or Sp. Def, and 85 for speed. You don't have to use those stats but makes sure you boost it's strongest stat first. If the Pokemon's a Physical Attacker raise its Attack by 255 and if its a Sp. Attacker raise its Sp. Attack but 255. Once again you are only limited to 510 with 255 for a stat max. You can't use 510 for 1 stat. But if you don't wanna defeat 255 Pokemon that gives out that specific EV per stat then battle and defeat it's Evolution. So if you wanna raise Speed and don't wanna face 255 Zubats then go battle Golbats and split it in half. Also Pokerus helps alot as well same with Power Items. You only get Power Items in the Battle Tower by earning enough Points. Make the Pokemon hold the Power Item for that stat. Power Item's add 4 EV's per stat after the EV that Pokemon gives out so defeating Golbat would give you 6 instead of 2. Now if you got Pokerus and that Pokemon holding the Speed Power item then it gets even more. Let's do the math. Golbat gives out 2 EV's Pokerus doubles the EV's that Pokemon gives yout making it 4 and Power Items add 4 so that makes it 8 so you would only have to beat 30 Golbats to max out in speed if you went that route. Use Serebii.net to get the EV that Pokemon gives out, if there's something you didn't understand then let me know.
See, I'm one of the people that can back my disagreement up lol. I've been playing Pokemon since I was like 6 or 7 maybe 8 so that was about 12 to 14 years ago. So I know a ton about Pokemon, Pokemon characteristics, their moves, types, advantages/disadvantages, training techniques, team building, EV training, stats, everything. If you need any help with Pokemon gameplay other than getting lost somewhere then let me know I will for sure be able to help. I've been playing for forever.
I like Leaf Storm but I prefer Solarbeam Ill tell you why. Most grass moves are Special Attack so the Pokemon are also Special Attackers and Leaf Storm reduces their Sp. Atk by a huge margin but Sunny Day and Solarbeam combo is epic. You won't need to store energy for next move until the Sunny Day wears off making Solarbeam the strongest Grass move. So therefore Leaf Storm isn't the strongest it is for 1 turn but next turn it's weaker kind of like Overheat.
