  • Most japanese kid-shows starts out light and goofy to start... They usually get darker or more serious as the series goes along. But who really knows XD
I think its a well made video series... RThor's take on Serena is pretty much similar to mine.
(I remember using the same points Rthor pointed out when defending Serena in this forum a while back).

She went From an aimless character, to a strong and determined one. Her story arc is one of the strengths of the XY series as a whole.

What about you? what did you think about Rthors opinions?
I've on;y watched the first few episodes of the new season, but I take it it hasn't got any better. ¬_¬

Isn't Yo-Kai dying down a bit? Or is that only in the West where it barely became popular in the first place?
I was afraid of that being a reason. I actually gave the Yo-Kai Watch anime a chance but couldn't make it through the first episode. At least Pokémon hasn't resorted to bathroom humour yet.
There where no budget cuts due too ratings XD

Family feel... I would argue that they do, but I want to address his judgement on Ash's character.

The characters don't (basically) live together like they do in the older saga's. So he's not really aware of said problems until it's brought into the open... And it's not like he wasn't motivated by rewards or food before (There's lots of instances where Ash is invited into a meal).

Also all of the examples he gave of them being a family and caring for one another where from XY&Z, you could make the same argument if you just watched the first 20 episodes right? that they don't care for each other, and Satoshi only cares for stuff like battles, food, or badges.

Ash is just as caring as he's always been... The Litten episodes, the rockruff, and the Lillie episodes prove that.

Uneven character development isn't new in 100+ episode anime so I'm not surprised. Serana took 40 episodes before she played a role in the story (granted they wrote a great reason why.) All we knew about Serana at that point was that she likes to bake, she likes Ash, and she hates ryhorn racing.

With regards with them not caring for each other and not risking their own safety for their friends... well, did he really just ignore the sandygast episode?

Sophocles? he had 3 episodes that centered around him. We know of his insecurities, he's fears, his weak will. He's a character that keeps to himself yet still yearns and needs the comfort of his friends.

I feel his argument is too weak to hold any water really... But hey, this is nothing new really, remember that people hated XY too... XD
So, I know I've been pretty dead here recently (even though I keep meaning to post here more), but I still exist. And things have certainly picked up on Azurilland. In the Challenger's Clan, theDINOsaurus just finished playing through her Black Nuzlocke, and she posted the final outcome in the thread. She's been way behind on that between her final semester in college, and getting a full-time job and all. But she hopes to wrap it all up soon. (Also, if I haven't said, this new username I have because of her.)

I also suggested in the thread that I feel like I would be remiss to not do something in Sun/Moon, maybe a Wonderlocke. She seemed entertained by the idea of that as well. I did a Blue Mono-Color in Moon back in April/May and haven't touched it since beating it, but after I get the Ultra Beasts I think I'll wipe that and maybe do just that. And now that there's an expanded challenge forum, I might be able to share it here, too.
I disagree with it not being a continuation. That particular site also states that BW is not a continuation of DP, except without BW, XY doesn't happen (and people enjoy XY a lot). Please correct me if I'm wrong, I admire the effort and dedication put into it but I don't think it's as factually correct as some people make it out to be.

I don't think it's anything to do with continuity, rather how Ash is portrayed and his skill level (despite my personal opinion he's a bad trainer with good Pokémon, akin to Lillie's battle in SM030).

Don't particularly care whether people like or dislike sagas to be honest. I'm tired of all the negativity. It's far from stellar writing, it's far from being a turd but I'm enjoying it and that's all that counts to me.

Never really use Tumblr much except to grab photos. I even mainly use Imgur. Reddit is the one place I truly enjoy discussing the anime (and no that's not because I can down vote stuff I disagree with).
It's fun talking to someone from the land down under. You must have a great accent, right? :P
It's why I enjoy starting things more than finishing them. Like in Minecraft, I'm doing 3-5 things at once, all part of a big project.
