Well, I guess. But it's actually not particularly difficult once you get the hang of it. Knowing the radicals, or parts, of the Kanji can really help realise their meaning. The hard part for most people is the particles. I'm the same, and conjugating verbs is difficult for me, but I just have to remember which group they belong to. But yeah, Kanji can help a lot at times, because there are quite a few homophones in Japanese. (If you'd call them that, lol)
