Any franchises art style will evolve over time. This isn't a lack of creativity at all, it's just that you're not used to the new look.

I doubt a good live action Pokémon movie could happen. Even with a huge budget and quality directing and CGI, I think it would be too hard to please enough Pokémon fans and cater to everyone. "Oh they totally ruined Pokémon blablablasdfghjklbdjdeghsjfssv". I think dbp's Disney Mystery Dungeon...
