  • What about something like this? XD

I prefer not-too-old used books. I like old books, but I have bad allergies and if I get just a little dust or something it's uncomfortable for hours. Still, that didn't keep me from buying a complete set of all Dickens books from so long ago they don't have copyrights. All for $40. They look fabulous, but a few of them are crumbly in places. :(
It's horrible that now when you walk into the fantasy section almost every book looks like the Twilight books. I dunno. I couldn't carry around some books because I wouldn't want people to see me read them. Not that I'd ever be ashamed of the books I read, but sometimes people just look at what you're reading without really understanding what you're reading. It shouldn't bother me, but it does. I don't want people to think I'm reading a crappy book if I'm not (or even if I am, but I almost never read bad books).

Old book smell? You mean like mold? xD
Sometimes when I'm with friends and we find ourselves in a bookstore we do the "Worst Book Cover Challenge" where we go into a section that usually has bad covers (fantasy or romance) and on the count of 3 grab a book at random from the shelf and see which one is the most awful. And there are a lot of awful books I've seen. Plenty of cheap vampire and zombie books now, but science fiction - for all that I love it - has some pretty bad ones, too.

Oh, and as I side note, yesterday I found 10 used DW books from the 70s at my bookstore. Seems they'd been in the backroom forever and no one wanted to put them on the shelves because they thought no one would buy them. D: When I have more money I'm going back to grab some.
Probably the same place my local bookstore got the idea that fantasy and scifi should be mixed together and yet you have to go to the young adult section to find a lot of authors you would expect to find in the SF/Fantasy area. Some people just don't get it. I mean, if you're not going to bother setting your genres in ways people are used to then the least you can do is come up with clever new genres. There's a movie rental store I've been to a few times and they have areas like "popcorn movies" and "teen angst" and "epic movies". There's even a shelf saved for Terry Gilliam. You have no trouble finding what you want there.
I think it's Roger Delgado, but I don't really pay attention to the credits. I'd say he's the one who looks like a stereotypical goatee'd villain, but maybe that's not specific enough.

I know that feeling. I don't want to start something without some assurance that it's going to be good. It's hard to know what is and what isn't because even people I know who know what I normally like will recommend shows that I find terribly uninteresting - like Battlestar Galactica - and I just watch them anyway because I haven't found anything better.
He debuts in Terror of the Autons which is how season 8 starts and he's not exactly what I was expecting. I know everyone says that these series are good - Red Dwarf and the like - I'm not going to jump on starting them at the moment since I've got so much to get through. I feel like they're going to be the things I always mean to get around to but never do.

I wish I had more time for hobbies like this. D:
I just started season 8 with the appearance of The Master. You know, I've never seen Red Dwarf and know nothing about it. I just hear it get mentioned a lot, but never have I seen it in stores, or on TV or anything. I get the impression that it's something like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I've also never seen/read.
XDDD Yeah. I don't know any animes with any aliens, sadly. They should make one and hope it's not crappy. :B
Awesome! I like Sci-Fi (thanks to my dad) and comedy, so I might give it a try. :>
Awww. :( It's always the good ones that seem to last the shortest. Woe.
I haven't gotten to Tom Baker yet. But I know what you mean. I was actually watching the end of the 7th season - The Inferno - and they made a big show out of this "amazing" device the Doctor had made.

It was a garage door opener. Ooooo! Aaaah!

There are some episodes of Star Trek from the 90s that make me laugh for being so dated looking. I wish they still played reruns of that. I used to be able to come home from school and watch 2 or 3 hours of it.
